Publisher's summary

It exists at the fringes of Washington, D.C., has no power, and consists solely of four eccentric and downtrodden members whom society has forgotten. Their simple goal is to find the "truth" behind their country's actions.

One man leads this aging, ragtag crew. He has no known past and has taken the name "Oliver Stone". Day and night, Stone and his friends study wild conspiracy theories, current events, and the machinations of government, hoping to discover some truth that will hold America's leaders accountable to its citizens. Yet never in Stone's wildest nightmares could he imagine the conspiracy the Camel Club is about to uncover.

After witnessing a shocking murder, the Club is slammed headfirst into a plot that threatens the very security of the nation, full of stunning twists, high-stakes intrigue, and global gamesmanship rocketing to the Oval Office and beyond. Soon the Club must join forces with veteran Secret Service agent Alex Ford, who becomes an unwilling participant in one of the most chilling spectacles to ever take place on American soil. It's an event that may well be the catalyst for the long-threatened Armageddon between two different worlds, and all that stands in the way of this apocalypse are five unexpected heroes.

In The Camel Club, best-selling author David Baldacci paints a frighteningly vivid portrait of a world that could be our own very soon, and the few people who have a chance to stop the chaos.

Stupid Plot

The plot starts off good and gets terrible. The characters are not believeable nor is the conclusion. Much of the theme has to do with one character's attempt to solve the Middle East crisis (while I am sympathetic to the idea) that is put forth in a way that you'd expect from an ameatur writer. Not one of the writer's better works and only worth listening to if you have nothing else.

Engaging and thought provoking!!!

As always I loved the narrator. The story took a little too long to build. The characters were very interesting and humorous. In all a good listen.

Live Long and Prosper Oliver Stone

This will be short because I'm handicaped and can type with only one finger. I first read the Camel Club (abridged) with Stone Cold and The Collectors. I loved every thing about these stories. I couldn't sleep until I finished. I love it when the protagonist is an old guy who pulls off the unlikley. You go David Baldacci. I would love to see Stone re-emerge and continue his adventures.

Very pleased with this listen.

If you like a good story that follows a logical order with strong characters and lots of well described action you will enjoy like this selection. The story keeps moving and descriptions take you to the place and allow you to see the plot unfold in front of you.

Oldie but still relevant

I read this a long while back and just now listened to it on Audible. THE CAMEL CLUB is definitely still 5-star for me, which says a lot if a book is equally as good the second time around. Page turning thriller with unexpected (what else!) twists. 3/5/18

Slow at first..........

If I had another book to listen to I would had skipped this one. I did start to enjoy the second half of it , but found the premise totally unrealistic. Entertaining and worth the wait for it to become a good book. Should not be included in any great works of fiction.

Camel Club

Loved the twists and turns of the story. Loved the concept of the Camel Club. While we know that the u.S. is not perfect, I felt there was too much emphasis on negativity and weakness of the personal character of our leaders and the constituency.

not believable

There were several instances where what was happening in the story didn't seem to match the reactions of the characters. The ending was bad.
