Publisher's Summary

For Alex Troutt, a trip back home for a much-needed summer vacation proves only one thing: greed rules. But how it takes root could destroy her world. Fueled by the lust of power and money, the shadow of death envelopes her seaside hometown, including those closest to Alex. But as disconnected investigations converge into one focal point, Alex will stop at nothing to blow the entire crime ring straight to hell, even if she has to make the ultimate sacrifice -- her life.

Don't waste your time

Wow, what a disappointment. In spite of some deficiencies I generally enjoyed books 1 through 3, with Alex Troutt a tough-talking, tough-acting FBI agent. I'm struggling to even get through book 4. The author must have turned over writing to someone who specializes in penning romance novels for 14 year old girls...that's what frequently the protagonist sounds like. Listen to the first three books if you want, but please don't throw your money away on this inane crap.

3 and a half

I enjoyed the first 3 Alex Trout books more than this set of books. Alex seemed sharper and the plots were more interesting. This set is entertaining but just ok. Archie was incredibly annoying and unrealistic.
