Publisher's summary

The Women's Murder Club faces an unspeakable horror in an irresistible hospital and courtroom thriller by number one best-selling author James Patterson.

Somebody dies.

A young mother is recuperating in a San Francisco hospital when she is suddenly gasping for breath. The call button fails to bring help in time. The hospital's doctors, some of the best in the nation, are completely mystified by her death. How did this happen?

Apocalypse nears.

This is not the first such case at the hospital. Just as patients are about to be released with a clean bill of health, their conditions take a devastating turn for the worse. Accompanied by the newest member of the Women's Murder Club, Yuki Castellano, Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer probes deeper into the incidents. Could these cases just be appalling coincidences? Or is a maniac playing God with people's lives? When someone close to the Women's Murder Club begins to exhibit the same frightening symptoms, Lindsay fears no one is safe.

The fifth horseman rides.

It is a wild race against time as Lindsay's investigation reveals a hospital administration determined to shield its reputation at all costs. And while the hospital wages an explosive court battle that grips the entire nation, Lindsay and the Women's Murder Club hunt for a merciless killer among its esteemed medical staff.

The newest addition to the top-selling new mystery series takes the Women's Murder Club to the most terrifying heights of suspense they have yet to encounter. The 5th Horseman proves once again that James Patterson is "the page-turningest author in the game right now" (San Francisco Chronicle).

5th Horseman Not as Good

James Patterson had a great thing going with the Murder Club, but he has not used it to its fullest in the last two releases. The plot is weak and doesn't keep you dying to hear the next chapter.

Love it!!

I wish I could give this 10 stars. This is the best book I have ever read. It can be a little hard to get into for some people but it is well worth it! This is a must read! Love it - I want to tell everyone all about it but afraid if I said saying how good it was that I will give it all away......

Engrossing; Filled with Suspense!

I found this book gripping. There were twists and surprises right up to the very end. I couldn't wait for the opportunity to turn on my iPod and continue listening to this story!

Unnatural Japanese characters

I enjoyed this audiobook and have only one minor complaint. It concerns the Japanese characters, which I feel are unnatural. For whatever reason they have been based on Chinese characters in movies such as JOY LUCK CLUB. In the real world, Japanese are not like Chinese! I have lived in Japan for almost 30 years and have not yet met Keiko's mother.

Courtoom Drama plus tracking murderers

This novel has an interesting, worthwhile set of (2) plots. It includes a striking courtroom drama, and the successful tracking down of 2 sets of murderers.
The problem with it lies in its writing style. Basically, it seems to be written to appeal to 12 year old girls. It is, at times, nauseatingly girlish. Considering that the plot(s) are strictly for adults, the discrepancy is really disturbing. It is difficult to recommend this book for the usual readers of Audiobooks.

medical nightmare

engaging story. anyone with a medical background will wonder how they managed to get so many medical facts so wrong though. It is called a VENTILATIOR people not a respirator! As an ICU nurse I am appalled by the perception of what we do and how the medication administration works. REALLY has any 5 year old in a hospital not had his parents stay?? The whole blood thinner aspect, strokes and tPA was wrong wrong wrong. All the inaccuracies are ruining this series of books for me!

Pretty good - not his best but worth reading.

If you could sum up The 5th Horseman in three words, what would they be?

If I could sum up The 5th Horseman in three words, I would say unpredictable -filled with twists and turns in typical James Patterson style, unforgettable -it keeps your interest, and entertaining -an easy read that flows nicely.
