Publisher's summary

Scott Brick brings to life a heart-stopping, critically acclaimed, and best-selling international thriller.

Even after they retire, crisis negotiators are haunted by the principle rule of dealing with violent terrorists: Just because the hostages have been released, it doesn't mean it's over.

Warning! Highly addictive escapism disguised as fiction. Only commit to this experience if you can tolerate pure adrenaline.

Publishers Weekly review: "The audio production of Khalifa’s twisty thriller begins with a terrorist takeover of a Manhattan skyscraper and features a spirited reading by Brick. Former FBI agent Alex Blackwell is dragged from retirement to handle a hostage situation in a New York City high-rise.

"Seth, the terrorist leader, demands a safe escape and a trade—the kidnapped daughter of an influential senator for the release of two bombers imprisoned in Egypt. Once the deal is struck and completed, Blackwell vows to hunt down Seth, and his quest is interrupted by chapters featuring Sam Morgan, a Southern California software developer who’s lured to a new job in New York City.

"The way the stories connect is clever and shocking. The plot hops around the globe, giving Brick’s international accents a workout. Brick’s clipped, precise performance makes the most of the surprising finale. The result is a totally satisfying audiobook."

Scott Brick narrates this Pulse Pounding Debut!

Terminal Rage Is an amazing debut novel! Combine this extraordinarily well written book with the stellar narration performed by Scott Brick and this book is sure to be a BESTSELLER!!!!
The book begins with the kidnapping of a senator's daughter. It them moves to a hostage situation in NYC where 25 executives are being held by a man named Seth, from an undetermined middle eastern country. He tells the protagonist Alexander Blackwell (a retired hostage negotiator) that he has four daycare centers wired with explosives. Obviously Seth has an agenda, he wants two terrorists released from an Egyptian prison and is sure Blackwell can get it done. When Blackwell complies with Seth's first demand he tells him where a wired daycare center is. But will give away no more.
The story is told in different timeframes from 2005 until the present. It doesn't get confusing because each time there is a change the author notes year and place.
It's also told from both points of view. And why did Seth specifically ask for Blackwell? Who is Seth?
This book moves along at a globe trotting heart pounding pace. The storytelling is outstanding.
I haven't listened to anything this good in a long time!!
My HIGHEST RECOMMENDATIONS!!

The best novel I've listened to in a long time!

I've listened to and rated 2406 audio books here at Audible; Terminal Rage is among the 5 best.

A review by Audible listener Shelley of Raleigh, NC led me to Terminal Rage. Her excellent reviews have led me to many great books during the last three years. Recent Listener Page modifications make following other listeners more difficult, but not impossible. If your genre of choice is suspense mystery/thrillers, you should be following Shelley.

Scott Brick is among the very best. His narration of this novel is truly outstanding.

I often suggest in my reviews that the potential listener read the publisher's summary and I certainly do so with Terminal Rage. The publisher's summary does not do this novel justice because Alex Blackwell is not the only or even the main protagonist. There are two plots woven together that effectively combine a terrorist incident with separate related incidents involving the main protagonist and his seeking extra-legal revenge. The two plots are woven together superbly by author A.M. Khalifa.

Excellent

Hi Wayne, Shelly! My library is well past 2000 also! You should follow my reviews as well (as I follow you guys). I see you and Shelly on every book I end up loving which is funny: Greaney, Andrews, Coes, Mars, Carr, Fury, etc etc. Thrillers read by Ray Porter etc etc. So many in this genre.

You should look up Peter Kirsanow he is my vote the next big thing.

Loved this book though I’m not much for hostage negotiating, Scott Brick, or FBI leads. This surprised me, you will love it to.

Couldn’t finish the book

I used to be a huge Scott Brick fan, but everything he narrates sounds the same - same cadence, same inflection, same delivery. Doesn’t matter what genre or topic, Brick can turn it into white noise.

Give me Dick Hill, Ray Porter, Richard Ferrone, Eric Conger, George Guidall, Peter Hermann, Joe Barrett, just no more Brick…

Pair Brick with mediocre writing and you have the unfinishable novel.

Twists and turns

Great story that kept me interested right from the get go. I appreciated that a couple of times the author gave a little recap, which made it easier to follow.

Scott Brick is EXCELLENT

Fabulous story, great plot twists, full of suspense. Narrated by Scott Brick who has to be, by far, the most talented narrator. His ability to make each character come alive with a unique personality and voice is unparalleled.
