Publisher's summary

In one bloody night, three of Washington’s most powerful politicians are executed with surgical precision. Their assassins then deliver a shocking ultimatum to the American government: set aside partisan politics and restore power to the people. No one, they warn, is out of their reach—not even the president. A joint FBI-CIA task force reveals the killers are elite military commandos, but no one knows exactly who they are or when they will strike next. Only Michael O’Rourke, a former U.S. Marine and freshman congressman, holds a clue to the violence: a haunting incident in his own past with explosive implications for his country’s future.

An eye opening look at Washington Politics

Wow. What a powerful book dealing with the corruption in Washington Politics. It is down-right frightening to see what could happen if a group of disgusted American patriots could do if they decided that political lies and back room deals had gone too far. When they decided to do something about it, it was refreshing at the least. great reading as fiction, but
it could happen.

Great prelude to the Mitch Rapp series.

The 1st few chapters were obviously early work from Vince Flynn, but the book gets better and better as it goes on. I have listened to the entire Mitch Rapp series and thoroughly enjoyed finishing it all with this 1st book.
But.....now what? I want more Mitch Rapp! I hope Kyle Mills keeps them coming for us.

Great story, bad narrator

The story is great...not as good as Flynn's later Mitch Rapp books, but a fine start for a novice writer.

The narrator sounds as if he is sounding out every word however, so I HIGHLY recommend listening at an increased speed. I chose 1.35x speed, which moves it along at a normal conversational rate. His diction and pronunciation is excellent, so it sounds fine at higher speed.

All in all, a very entertaining listen. It makes the miles fly by on long drives, and I hesitate to pause it when I reach my destination. A must for Mitch Rapp fans.

A story that could happen.

the crimes in this story happen for a reason. when you learn what those reasons are you may think that crimes are Justified.

One of my favorite Vince Flynn novels

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and this is now one of my favorite Vince Flynn novels. The plot twists and turns were not what I thought was coming at times which is rare for me. I thought most of the characters were believable and the plot line was ingenious. What would happen if our own elite warriors decided our elected leaders were more corrupt and more of a threat to the United States Constitution than the foreign powers they have been training to fight? Great premise.

Doesn't Seem So Far-Fetched These Days

Would you listen to Term Limits again? Why?

Possibly. Lots of dialogue.

Any additional comments?

Interesting take on how/why people in power do not take the people they are meant to serve into consideration when making decisions. Sounds oddly plausible after this last year in the U.S.

One of the best in the genre

This book was one of the best espionage-type thrillers I have read and definitely shows Vince Flynn at the height of his prowess. An exciting read from the beginning, this book harbors the underpinnings of the great hero, Mitch Rapp, to come in future books. Here is CIA Director Stanfield with his young and capable lieutenant, Irene Kennedy, together for the first time. Here is Scott Coleman, later to be on the team with Mitch Rapp in their black-ops and global pursuit of terrorists and corruption. I thoroughly enjoyed this tightly-written, exciting novel from beginning to end. Having read the entire Mitch Rapp series, I only wish there was more Vince Flynn.
