Publisher's summary

A propulsive, high-stakes debut thriller where one extraordinary operator holds the key to saving the world from Armageddon. All he needs to do is stay alive.

Buried deep in the US defense and special forces architecture is an elite, ultra-black unit created expressly to prevent weapons of mass destruction from falling into the hands of terrorists and rogue regimes. Their covert, surgical strikes eliminate grave threats so the rest of America can sleep without fear. Until now.

After returning from a successful operation in Pakistan, the entire team is assassinated within 48 hours. Only their leader, Michael Garin, survives.

As the sole survivor and chief suspect of the attack, Garin finds himself on the run from Iranian intelligence operatives bent on tracking and killing him. Even Garin's own government appears to have turned against him, sending a lethal sniper from the vaunted Delta Force to eliminate the threat they think he's become.

With enemies coming at him from every direction, Garin's fight for survival becomes part of a larger conspiracy unfolding on the world's stage: a catastrophic attack - precipitated by escalating tensions in the Middle East - that will shift the balance of power and plunge the United States of America into oblivion.

Critic reviews

“Kirsanow has created an engaging main character in Garin.” (Booklist)

“A riveting and fast paced read, written with a knowledge of weaponry, the intelligence world and the real world politics that mirror our modern struggles.” (Dr. Howard Wasdin, New York Times best-selling author of SEAL Team Six)

“A dark conspiracy, a hard-edged, big-hearted hero, and non-stop action: Target Omega is one hell of a debut. Peter Kirsanow’s Target Omega is about threats to America in a modern world and the heroes - like charismatic operator Mike Garin - who risk it all to stop the villains and exact revenge in the most brutal and just of ways. Terrific first novel for Peter Kirsanow. Thriller readers, make sure the batteries in your night lights are good to go because Target Omega is going to keep you up all night.” (Ben Coes, New York Times best-selling author of First Strike)

Good start to a new series...

Peter Kirsanow is an author I've never heard of until recently. I came across this book after checking out listener pages of people I used to follow. I must say again how much I dislike the way Audible has redone the new listener page. I have written them and would like to suggest that others do so as well, maybe if they get enough complaints they will change this new format. One can only hope!
Anyway, back to the book. The few people who have left reviews have written absolutely glowing comments praising his book. Being almost obsessed with the mystery/thriller genre getting this was only a question of when.
The publisher's summary gives a good overview. This 13 1/2 hour book is so much more. The summary makes this sound like so many others in this genre and in a way it is. This is kind of interesting because through flashbacks he tells a story of how he came to be a fearless, Boy Scout terrorist killer.
Very enjoyable and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Great espionage thriller from a new author!

It seems that protagonist Mike Garin is likely to join characters like Mitch Rapp, Jack Ryan, Court Gentry, Scot Harvath, Pike Logan, etc. as great lead characters in espionage thriller series. Based on TARGET OMEGA author Peter Kirsanow has written as strong a first novel in his Mike Garin series as the first novels of Flynn, Clancy, Greaney, Thor, or Taylor. Narration by Paul Michael is outstanding. I have purchased Second Strike which is the second novel in the series and will listen to it next. My thanks to Audible Listener Shelley whose reviews have once again led me to a terrific novel/series.

TARGET OMEGA has my highest possible recommendation!!

Great read with amazing and accurate detail

This could well be the start of an action packed series of adventures with the character of Mike Garin. Looking forward to next thriller.

Sometimes authors and readers create a new reality

My new hero, Michael Garin, is by his own description nothing more than a grunt in a specialized off the chart military operation. As the last 24 hours passed, his entire organization has been wiped out, and somehow the people that killed his crew has left him holding the bag. Now every government agency is hunting him, and if that's not bad enough, the best Army sniper in the world is trying to get him in his sights...in the story Mike will have his family threatened, friends either killed or nearly killed, a love interest of sorts kidnapped, and threatened.
Mike will work his way through Iranians Russians, Jews, and American villains, trying to stop the elimination of Israel, destruction of the American way of life, and figure out when, why, who, and where all of these bad things are coming from.
The book is pretty much no stopped action with lots of twists that will satisfy most readers I think.
Lots of action, lists of shooting, and lots of unanswered questions, so you know there is going to be at least one more book...
This is reality based not like a Joe Ledger book

Well executed, but nothing new

This was a very well researched book. I found the story to be believable with enough action to keep me interested. My only complaint would be the length of the book. It’s probably my own hang up, but sometimes less is more. I would recommend the abridged version.

Interesting story and characters

Very well done. A mix of military, intelligence, government agencies and congressional and presidential people as players. A good plot.

Ending, more to come

The ending left it open to a follow up book, otherwise I did not like the ending. Too rushed and left some things open.
