Publisher's summary

Two young children disappear from their East Side home in New York City, their nanny killed in cold blood. As Lieutenant Eve Dallas begins to unravel the crime scene and search for Henry and Gala MacDermit, she's drawn into the twisted mind of a kidnapper who will stop at nothing to take revenge. Horrific threats concerning the brother and sister hit far too close to home for Eve, drawing her back into memories of her own tortured childhood.

But Eve knows that there's no time to waste on the past, and with every passing hour her determination to bring the children safely home strengthens. Eve and her team find themselves following an electronic breadcrumb trail left by a boy desperate to escape the evil witch. Their investigation into the kidnapper's sordid past reveals violent coercion, ritualistic killings, and chilling bloodlust - making her terrifying plans for the children abundantly clear.

Great!!

This is probably her best short story. I'm not a fan of short stories- I think they leave readers unfulfilled. This one however, was pretty awesome. It was an interesting story and it was well told. Ericksen is brilliant- men, women, kids, accents- she can do them all.

loved it

I had read the story, and enjoyed it. The narrator brought it to life. Will look for more by her. I especially liked the accents.

This is one on the best JD Robb stories!

I’ve read most of the series and can say that this is one of the best stories. Sometimes, it’s not the length of a story that matters, but the quality.

Fairy tales come true.

this was such a great story. suspenseful and exciting. my favorite part was when Henry did his best to get help via his toy. Susan Eriksen is the most awesome story teller ever. She makes JD Robb stories even better.

Taken in Death fully up to expectations!

Loved it, as I do all "In Death" books. Want more Audable selections. I have difficulty reading (eyes) & Audable is great!

You don't hear about evil twins too often... but

I really liked this story. It totally gave me the shivers all the way through it. I have a twin sister, and I called her afterwards to tell her about the twins in this story. I think it was just the right length for the story. I am sometimes reluctant to get short stories because I am afraid the plot won't be resolved. However, that isn't the case with this story.

Bored with In Death!!!

I am getting bored with the In Death series. Feels that Robb can't figure out what to do with Eve and her circle of friends. This Story is short so I gave it a go. It's nothing special. Same old thing. Eve and her team of cops and of course her husband. Not that its bad, just need something to fix the boredom!. I did finish it and I was entertained. I am on a Zombie kick so this was a short story to fill the gap between listens.

As always can't go wrong with Susan Ericksen. I am surprised that I haven't noticed a change in her reading. Thought perhaps she would get bored to. But I can't hear it if she is. Well done!!!
