Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Phillip Margolin returns to the corridors of power in Washington, D.C., with an exciting thriller about a ghost ship and the president's nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Sarah Woodruff, on death row in Oregon for murdering her lover, John Finley, has appealed her case to the Supreme Court just when a prominent justice resigns, leaving a vacancy.

Then, for no apparent reason, another justice is mysteriously attacked. Dana Cutler, one of the heroes from Margolin's best-selling Executive Privilege, is quietly called in to investigate. She looks for links between the Woodruff appeal and the ominous incidents in the justices' chambers, which eventually lead her to a shoot-out that took place years ago on a small freighter docked upriver in Shelby, Oregon, containing a dead crew and illegal drugs. The only survivor on board? John Finley.

With the help of Brad Miller and Keith Evans, Dana uncovers a plot by a rogue element in the American intelligence community involving the president's nominee to the Supreme Court, and soon the trio is thrown back into the grips of a deadly, executive danger.

With nonstop action, Supreme Justice picks up where Executive Privilege left off, putting listeners right back where they were, on the edge of their seats.

Supreme Justice by Philip Margolin

I have never been disappointed with any of Philip Margolin's books. Supreme Justice is no exception. BUT, this is the first time I have listened, instead of read one of his books. For the record I listen to about 2 books per month and read as many if not more each month (retired).

The narrator of Supreme Justice is Jonathon Davis who single handedly almost, I say almost ruined a perfectly good thriller. His narrative was slow and lazy in depicting almost every character, male or female. I suspect he was trying to create an atmosphere of suspense, mystery and dread. What he did was make the book slow, boring and plodding. Every character sounded like they were falling asleep. In any event it is a very good thriller and I suggest you read not listen to it.

The good news and the bad news

Good news... I really enjoyed this book. However, I would have given it a higher rating except for one thing.
Bad news: I dislike authors that slant their political views in their stories.
Good news: Mr. Margolin, I think, writes a good story. But please leave all that the conservatives r the bad guys and the "progressives" r the good guys out.
Bad news: First that is not true and second it distracts from the story. This is just my opinion.

Damn good story!

If you could sum up Supreme Justice in three words, what would they be?

One of his best for me, and I have been an Audible Book fan for many years.

What did you like best about this story?

Everything!

What does Jonathan Davis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I just like how he brings each character to life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!

Any additional comments?

I have enjoyed many of Phillip Margolin’s books but this one would not let me put it down. I don’t think I would listen to his book if not for Jonathan Davis.

Suspenseful!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I enjoyed listening to this book because it had a great storyline and kept you wondering what was going to happen next.

Would you be willing to try another book from Phillip Margolin? Why or why not?

This is the 3rd book I've read by Phillip Margolin and they have all been equally as interesting.

What about Jonathan Davis’s performance did you like?

Jonathan Davis is one of my favorite voices. He has a nice voice to listen to and plays the different parts well. I will look for books he reads in the future and am glad he has read the other books in this trilogy.

Lab Tech Workaholic

I think this book was a great combination of mystery and combined a great description of why Roe vs Wade has been so important to the justice system. Well written. Would recomend.

Good but...

For the first third of this book, I thought I'd really found something special. but then the "implausibles" began to build up: whole ships disappearing, people up to no good freely left to wander around a supreme court justice's office, and an attack on a justice inside the supreme court itself. Please... But when the initial hero of the book, a gritty cop, just gets blown away and disappears from further consideration, I lost interest. If people have to die in the story, I at least want the author to have some emotion about them.

Love a good mystery...

I have ten books by Phillip Margolin and I enjoyed them all. I do like this series, lawyer, courts, and a good mystery. What more could I ask for? I will continue to buy books by this author. Well worth the credit.

Another thrilling mystery

A continuation of the previous book...which grabbed and kept my attention...unfortunately, it was clear who some of the bad guys were early into the book...but there were still lots of surprises.
