Publisher's summary

When a Hollywood-based TV series schedules filming in Boston, Spenser smells trouble. When he signs up to protect the show's star, Jill Joyce, he knows it's on its way.

First, there's Jill herself. She's spoiled, arrogant, drugged out -- made worse by fear. Someone is out to get her -- does she imagine it, or is it real?

Spenser monitors her neurosis, but finds evidence of harassment. It escalates to murder. Now begins the dangerous part -- while the act may have ended, the murderer lingers on.

One of Robert B. Parker’s Best

I think this is my favorite Spenser book. All the elements of a great story are here. All of the familiar characters including my second favorite- Hawk. I love being surprised and really enjoy how masterfully Robert Parker weaves the tale all the way to the surprise ending. I’ve read several adaptations of the Spenser series from authors who have picked up and carried the banner after Mr. Parker’s untimely death, and although the attempts are welcome, we’ll never see his like again. And lastly, Michael Pritchard is hands down, the best reader and interpreter of the Spenser books.

All Spenser's are worth listening too.

Would you listen to Stardust again? Why?

No. A pretty predictable plot

Would you recommend Stardust to your friends? Why or why not?

A Parker fan probably wants them all. There are others I would recommend before this one for a casual listener.

What about Michael Prichard’s performance did you like?

I like all the various Spenser narrators. Montegna is my favorite. Prichard is fine however.

Any additional comments?

I would put this one about in the middle of all the Spencer books as the plot isn't as good as many others.

Okay story, terrible reader

Okay story, terrible reader - monotone and fast, had to slow it down to get thru it.

Stardust, another winner by Parker

I'm biased in favor of Parker's Spenser novels, I like all that I've listened to. There's always snappy dialogue and fast moving plot. This novel was great. I highly recommend it.

C'mon

Not up to his usual standards. The actress character was weak, and the story was mediocre

Robert Parker does not disappoint

Another great book in the Spencer series. I have loved all the books and was totally immersed in the series and the characters. Parker really was a great story teller and a master at creating interesting characters. I always looked forward to hearing from my favorites each time I started a Spencer book. Stardust is very entertaining. Spencer is serving as protection for a spoiled movie star, Jil. Very good story that is well narrated. If you have never listened to a Spencer novel, start from the first and go all the wa through. The stories and characters build over the series and it is most entertaining. I don't think you will be disappointed.

he said, she said, gets in the way.

Worthy effort at detective noire, but modern setting gets in the way of nostalgic attitudes. Also the constant he-said and she-said does not work audiotorily.

Not the performance I am accustomed to.

Not anything like the original Spencer novels.
This guys voice sounds more like an accountant then a tough PI. Not that he does a bad job but his voice just doesn’t fit the character. Had to force myself to get into it.
