Well Narrated Warm Paranormal Mystery

A well narrated, warm and charming paranormal tale of Faith Bennison, a Midwestern widow, as she settles in to Somewhere, a coastal Oregon village.

Very good!

Somewhere By The Sea is a very good book. The descriptions of this quaint little town made me want to visit! Each person's story was so well written that I felt that I wanted to get to know them a little better and spend more time with them. I was sad when the story ended. I am glad there is a book 2!
I listened to the audiobook version of this story. Cate Barratt does a fine job. To be honest, I felt that her voice sounded a bit more mature than what I would have expected the main character, Faith, to sound like. She was very well suited for the older character, Abbie. I wondered where the narrator was from based on the way she pronounced words like OreGONE and aGAIN. Being from the south, those items stick out.
All in all, I enjoyed this book and will definitely want to read/listen to book #2

Always touching

Verna’s stories always remind me of what’s important in life. Always so touching. I can never put them down. Though I prefer reading in Wattpad, being read to is nice also.

Four and a half stars

Would you consider the audio edition of Somewhere by the Sea to be better than the print version?

Not exactly. In the print version, the voices in my head were considerably different. But the audio version was, indeed, very good

Who was your favorite character and why?

That's a toss up between Faith and Gabby. I guess I was able to relate more to Gabby. She was a strong character with lots of personality.

Which character – as performed by Cate Barratt – was your favorite?

Although Cate Barratt did an excellent job reading, I don't feel that the voice changes effected my like or dislike of the characters

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The romance was sweet.

Any additional comments?

Verna Clay is one of my favorite authors for sweet romance novels. She has an ability to create scenes that come to life and characters you can't help but to love.

Although some plot lines start to wind up, we are left with that urge to keep reading and desperately looking for Book #2 in this series.

Not my favorite of Verna's books, but it is a great beginning to a new series and a great summer read.

Nice story...

Nice story... all storylines are woven together nicely. The narrator could have some more inflection in her voice but overall a good book.

A touching romance with a dash of the paranormal.

Somewhere by the Sea is a touching story with the perfect blend of romance, drama and hints of the paranormal. In this book, Faith moves across the country to the small town of Somewhere, Oregon, after the death of her husband and young son in an automobile accident. She knows that she needs to shakeup her life drastically in order to escape the deep depression that plagues her. Once she arrives in Somewhere and moves into the Hope B&B, she finally begins to live again. The author does an amazing job of illustrating Faith's deep pain and sorry without making this book depressing in the least. She also lays a good foundation for future books in the series when Faith befriends many of the locals in Somewhere. One of whom, the B&B owner's son, Baxter, begins a journey of healing from past hurts himself when he meets Faith, and they begin a tentative friendship that develops into something much more passionate. Throw in visits from some ghosts of both Faith and Baxter's pasts, and you have a wonderful story about love, friendship and life in small town America.

Cate Barratt's narration is fantastic. She delivers a smooth and flawless performance, and she has a slight accent that adds the perfect touch to this romance. Barratt narrates the next several books in the series, and I plan to start book two right now. Clay's prose and Barrate's narration make for a fun audiobook production.

I received a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for this honest review.

Excellent

Good tender story of a woman who has lost much, though strong to begin again. With thoughts of this small town and her husband , she moves. The author was good of showing the fear and the moments of when life began again for her. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
