Publisher's summary

Trenton, New Jersey, bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has inherited a "lucky" bottle from her Uncle Pip. Problem is, Uncle Pip didn't specify if the bottle brought good luck or bad luck. . . .

BAD LUCK:

Vinnie, of Vincent Plum Bail Bonds, has run up a gambling debt of $786,000 with mobster Bobby Sunflower and is being held until the cash can be produced. Nobody else will pay to get Vinnie back, leaving it up to Stephanie, office manager Connie, and file clerk Lula to raise the money if they want to save their jobs.

GOOD LUCK:

Being in the business of tracking down people, Stephanie, Lula, and Connie have an advantage in finding Vinnie. If they can rescue him, it will buy them some time to raise the cash.

BAD LUCK:

Finding a safe place to hide Vinnie turns out to be harder than raising $786,000. Vinnie's messing up Mooner's vibe, running up pay-per-view porn charges in Ranger's apartment, and making Stephanie question genetics.

GOOD LUCK:

Between a bonds office yard sale that has the entire Burg turning out, Mooner's Hobbit-Con charity event, and Uncle Pip's lucky bottle, they just might raise enough money to save the business, and Vinnie, from ruin.

BAD LUCK:

Saving Vincent Plum Bail Bonds means Stephanie can keep being a bounty hunter. In Trenton, this involves hunting down a man wanted for polygamy, a turnpike toilet paper bandit, and a drug dealer with a pet alligator named Mr. Jingles.

GOOD LUCK:

The job of bounty hunter comes with perks in the guise of Trenton's hottest cop, Joe Morelli, and the dark and dangerous security expert, Ranger. With any luck at all, Uncle Pip's lucky bottle will have Stephanie getting lucky---the only question is . . . with whom?

Janet Evanovich's Sizzling Sixteen . . . so hot, the book might spontaneously combust!

Sizzled on all Cylinders!!!

I've listened to every book, including all 16 in this series, from Janet Evanovich. Lorelei King did a fabulous job, again. No one else can read the characters as Lorelei does; just stop the series if she couldn't read anymore.

Sizzling Sixteen is a great comeback from the 15th book in the series. Janet brought great mystery with their personal business in the story - intrigue and suspence mixed with a little humor blended into another fantastic Stephanie Plum adventure. This bounty hunter promisses not to dissapoint. I had a smile on my face and giggled from beginning to end.

LOL Laughed a lot

Once again Stephanie and Lulu manage to get themselves in more trouble than a box of puppies. Stephanie manages to keep her love-life hot. Some of the scenes are so absurd they made us laugh out loud. I 'm looking forward to 17,18, 19 and 20...

I enjoyed this one more than most seemed to.

I've been a Stephanie fan since the beginning. My fiction taste runs the gamut from John Steinbeck to Neil Gaiman to Anita Shreve to Marcia Muller, and I enjoy the Plum series for what it is -- a funny, not too violent mystery with creative characters. For those who complain it's predictable ... it's a lighthearted romance/mystery, and certain things are certain to happen. I LIKE the familiar repeating gags (Lula's crazy diets, Stephanie wrecking Ranger's cars, Grandma Mazur attending 'viewings') and the mild sexual tension (I never get tired of Ranger's "Babe." or Morelli's looking down her shirt) and the oddball supporting characters who show up.

I also thought it was intriguing that Stephanie was rethinking her career choice, and I liked her internal dialogue over whether or not to rescue Vinnie. The characters were true to themselves.

Maybe if I had read a hard copy, I would have gotten through it too quickly, but that is one thing I like about the audio format -- it takes longer to hear the words and you can't skip anything. All in all, thought this narrator did a very good job of all the different voices and I found it a great distraction during my holiday cleaning and baking.

Repetitive

I like these books for mind candy but they really are repetitive. And with regards to the audible versions, she does nice voices which should allow her to leave out the “ I said” “ranger said” etc, etc. at least sometimes. And Lula really needs a change up or fired. She screws up a lot of stuff and it gets old.

The narration deserves 5 stars

The story was stale. I have read every Janet Evanovich book, but this has been the most disappointing one. I have always loved her stories, even if I wished she would have some movement in the story, but this story was just so stagnant and over done...I could have reread any of her other books and gotten the same outcome. I loved the narrator though. She always does a great job.
