Publisher's summary

Trenton, New Jersey, bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has inherited a "lucky" bottle from her Uncle Pip. Problem is, Uncle Pip didn't specify if the bottle brought good luck or bad luck. . . .

BAD LUCK:

Vinnie, of Vincent Plum Bail Bonds, has run up a gambling debt of $786,000 with mobster Bobby Sunflower and is being held until the cash can be produced. Nobody else will pay to get Vinnie back, leaving it up to Stephanie, office manager Connie, and file clerk Lula to raise the money if they want to save their jobs.

GOOD LUCK:

Being in the business of tracking down people, Stephanie, Lula, and Connie have an advantage in finding Vinnie. If they can rescue him, it will buy them some time to raise the cash.

BAD LUCK:

Finding a safe place to hide Vinnie turns out to be harder than raising $786,000. Vinnie's messing up Mooner's vibe, running up pay-per-view porn charges in Ranger's apartment, and making Stephanie question genetics.

GOOD LUCK:

Between a bonds office yard sale that has the entire Burg turning out, Mooner's Hobbit-Con charity event, and Uncle Pip's lucky bottle, they just might raise enough money to save the business, and Vinnie, from ruin.

BAD LUCK:

Saving Vincent Plum Bail Bonds means Stephanie can keep being a bounty hunter. In Trenton, this involves hunting down a man wanted for polygamy, a turnpike toilet paper bandit, and a drug dealer with a pet alligator named Mr. Jingles.

GOOD LUCK:

The job of bounty hunter comes with perks in the guise of Trenton's hottest cop, Joe Morelli, and the dark and dangerous security expert, Ranger. With any luck at all, Uncle Pip's lucky bottle will have Stephanie getting lucky---the only question is . . . with whom?

Janet Evanovich's Sizzling Sixteen . . . so hot, the book might spontaneously combust!

15 was a disappointment, 16 was worse

I never thought I'd wish for a Plum series book to just be over with. I finished listening about 8 hours ago and I can't even remember the point of the book. Oh, maybe there wasn't one. The narrator like usual was fantastic and Lula's lines were great. Lula was the only bright spot of the book. There were a couple grandma zingers but she wasn't highlighted much.

At first when I saw the length of the unabridged book for a full price, I was disappointed. Now I'm thankful it was short. BTW, if you scroll through the length of the Plum series books, they are getting significantly shorter in length. As another reviewer mentioned, perhaps J. Evanovich has run out of Stephanie's adventures.

Disappointed once again, Bye Bye Stephanie

Janet Evanovich is definitely on a downward spiral as an author; books, 13,14,and 15 were all lack luster and 16 continued to disappoint. This time I didn't order the hard bound book or even the audio book on cd (I used to pre-order both) This time I used an audible credit to download the unabridged book. Less than six hours of less than enjoyable listening later - I'm wondering why I even bothered. My audible credits are worth more than this swill.
Perhaps Ms Evanovich is over extended, perhaps she has nothing but senior moments, perhaps she has delegated the writing to someone else. There must be a reason she is producing this crap and calling it a novel.
Basic review - lacks plot, lacks character development, lacks humor, lacks substance. Hardly worth the wait of a year for a new novel in a series. I hate to cross a female mystery writer off my must read list - but then these days her offerings aren't even worthy of the mystery genre classification.
Gone are the laugh out loud moments; gone is any sexual tension between Stephanie and Joe / or Stephanie and Ranger. Gone is my investment in these characters. So, goodbye Stephanie Plum, it used to be nice to know you - I'll miss you as you were in books 1 through 8; the character you have devolved into isn't one who interests me.
This book is the like ordering a four course meal and getting an energy bar - totally lacking in taste and with hardly enough substance to substance life.

16... is a fizzle not a sizzle!

This one was a real snooze. If it hadn't been for Lorelei King, I might have stopped listening but she is always so entertaining. Evanovich just rehashed all the same characters with all the same descriptions that she has used in previous books. The story line was boring, as well. I have all the Stephanie Plum novels in hard copy and audiobook and this one was a let down. I re-downloaded Ten Big Ones to get my Stephanie fix. "Ten" has new characters, a wedding, an invasion of Ranger's private space, persuit by a gang, an hilarious FTA-doodle lady, etc. Jam packed funny adventure. Sizzling Sixteen is a major disappointment.

Skip this if you are not reading whole series

I love this series and I really like the way Lorelei King reads it. But 16 is flat parts of it seem to be copied and pasted in from previous books in the series. The heat that I have come to expect between the characters is non existant. I think this book had alot of potental but I feel like I was reading a first draft or outline that needed to have all the detail filled in.

Sizzling Sixteen

I love the Stephanie Plum series and I wouldn't write a review as a general rule. this was less that impressive. it was predictable and boring. the only good thing about this book was its narrator. i am concerned that there is not much left to Stephanie Plum and her friends.

No Sizzle at all...

I love the Plum series but this one was flat. Lorelei King was awesome as always but even she couldn't cover up all the "she said, he said, I said" in the book. This one sounded like Janet wrote the book because it was time for another one not because she had any interest in writing it. Very disappointing. I hope Janet reads the reviews before the next one (if there is one).

Fluffy

This is a light fluffy book, with no pretensions to great plotting or character development. It's an amusing read that doesn't require much of the listener. I chose it after reading The Passage, which was heavy; I wanted to lighten up before delving into another, more serious listening experience.

If you're looking for easy, entertaining listening, this is a good choice.

No Sizzle Here!

This book was disappointing and a bit odd. Who would have thought that you would have to add Hobbits to a book to make it interesting??? The narration drove me crazy with far too many "she said" "I said" "he said" throughout. Lorelei King does a great job with the voices of each character and she doesn't need to add who said what to every single interaction. Someone please tell the editor for the audible version!!!
