Publisher's summary

Sabrina Compton's sheltered life is shattered when her beloved husband is brutally murdered. And though their home has been ransacked, nothing appears to be missing. Unable to face the memories the house holds, Sabrina flees to her great-grandmother's cottage on Gaffe Island, off the coast of South Carolina.

But the peace she tries to recover is crushed by the revelations of an intrusive FBI agent, and her life is forever altered by the weight of her husband's devastating betrayal. As a hurricane bears down on Gaffe Island, she discovers the killer is now after her.

Will Sabrina survive both the storm and the killer's rage? Will the presence of the FBI agent be enough to protect her? Or are the sins of her husband's past destined to destroy her, too?

Exciting Mystery!

An entertaining story that definitely keeps your interest! A killer tries to abduct Sabrina Compton as a terrible hurricane approaches.

Finding her husband’s body was tragic to begin with, but when she learns from the FBI that he was not who she thought, Sabrina is nearly unable to cope.

There is no choice but to deal as the same man comes after her. Why she doesn’t know, but he refuses to give up.

It’s exciting to follow the scenes with the hurricane thrown into the mix, wreaking destruction even as the FBI Agent and Sabrina try to escape.

Great narration by Jan Kennedy. This audiobook was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review. You can read my full review at Mystery Suspense Reviews.

A mixed review............

I have mixed feeling about Sins of the Past. If you can make it through the first third of the book without giving up, the remainder of the book is quite enjoyable. During those first 3-4 hours, the story is just the main character, Sabrina, either wallowing in self-pity or turning into a raving shrew. I understand that she is grieving the death of her husband, but it just went on and on and on. Luckily, once Sabrina meets FBI agent Mitch Lawson and learns a startling truth about her husband, the story gets both intriguing and action-packed. Combine an excellent use of foreshadowing and misdirection with a hurricane and a professional killer, and the book had me hooked. I never really warmed up to Sabrina, but she quickly became so busy trying to save herself during multiple near-death experiences that she did not have time to irritate me as much. If you can jump to the 30% point of the book, it is an exciting and entertaining story with a bit of a surprise twist at the end.

Jan Kennedy's narration is excellent. She has a different way of pronouncing several words, but, rather than finding this distracting, I found it rather charming. She differentiates well between characters, and she uses the right level of emphasis for the different moods of the book. I would definitely listen to another of her narrations in the future.

I received a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for this honest review.

Slow and boring

This book is extremely slow and boring with too many mundane ramblings. The narrator does a good job, but she can't save this book.
