Publisher's summary

Adapted from the stories by Arthur Conan Doyle.... Sherlock Holmes is the greatest detective of them all. He sits in his room, and smokes his pipe. He listens, and watches, and thinks. He listens to the steps coming up the stairs; he watches the door opening – and he knows what question the stranger will ask.

In these three of his best stories, Holmes has three visitors to the famous flat in Baker Street – visitors who bring their troubles to the only man in the world who can help them.

Don't Adapt Arthur Conan Doyle

I didn't pay enough attention to the details of the description but, when I first listened, realized this wasn't the original. One of the most enjoyable aspects of reading Sherlock Holmes is the prose, including quirky names and details. For example, in "The Speckled Band", the cheetah and the ape, running loose on the estate.
Little of this is present in this adaptation. Perhaps this retelling is o.k. for a child first hearing the Sherlock Holmes short stories but for those of us who love these stories and were looking for a good performance of the classic, it leaves something the be desired.
