This was a very interesting story. It had twist and turns and involved possible conspiracy. A body that was found about 50 years ago and had been in police evidence was finally id'd. It was the main characters uncle who had disappeared over 50 years earlier. The police do not really have time to handle this cold case because there is not leads. So Deena takes on the challenge of trying to find out who killed her uncle who was actually her cousin. There will be all kinds of twist and turns before the book ends. I will more in this series. I wanted to say Madeline Mrozek did a great job on the narration. I receive this book from from audio book worm for an honest review of this audio book

This is one of the better cozy mysteries I've ever listened to. It's clever and intelligent, suspenseful and intriguing. If it had a better humor element, it would have been top notch. But it was great just the way it is, too. I just really value humor. The wit that is represented is quite good, just not enough of it in my opinion. The relationships between the characters are fantastic and I'm always a little relieved when the romance angle is not foremost. Already happily married is a welcome breath of fresh air!
The narrator was quite good. This book was very professional and I feel lucky to have obtained it free in exchange for this honest review.

Good suspense with lots of clues and twists, character development is very well done. See publisher's blurb for hints, no spoilers here. I really enjoyed this fine mystery and hope to read more from this author.
I was lucky to have been able to obtain an audio of this book and feel that Ms. Mrozek truly enhanced the author's work with her pleasant vocal range and voice interpretation of each character.

Syynopsis:
When Deena Sharpe loses her job as a teacher, she intends to get back to being a journalist — but that isn’t as easy as she imagined. Luckily for her, a deputy discovers the body of a cold case, and it turns out that the murdered man is her long lost uncle. Her family asks her to find out what happened to her uncle 50 years ago, and so Deena sets out to solve the mystery. A well-known author has his own theory, but Deena isn’t happy with his suggestions. And so a race for the wanted outcome begins.
What I think:
Sharpe Shooter is the first sequel in the Maycroft Mystery Series, and the first cozy mystery novel by Lisa B. Thomas that I listened to.
Madeline Mrozek did a perfect job with the narration, and I absolutely enjoyed the story. The characters were convincing, as was the story. I liked the way our heroine, Deena Sharpe, went about solving this very (c)old case. I like the fact that there is a loving and caring family, even if not all family members see eye to eye.
I love the conspiracy theory which is thrown into the bargain by another party.
The story is well written, and I’m curious about the next case.
It’s a clean story with lots of twists and turns which kept my attention throughout.
I like a good mystery story, and this one easily compares to other good mysteries I listened to.
I received this audiobook at no-cost from Audiobookworm Promotions. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Where does Sharpe Shooter rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
In the middle somewhere.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The main character, Deena, was smart though she seemed quite timid at the start.
Any additional comments?
This was an enjoyable, easy going mystery to listen to and I couldn't guess the murderer till quite far in the book. Keeps you guessing.
The reading was good, with enough variations in her voice to feel the different characters.

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Cozy Suburbs Mystery series and is written by Lisa Thomas and narrated by Madeline Mrozek. Deena Sharpe is a burned out high school teacher. When a deputy identifies a man’s body 50 years after his disappearance her family asks Deena to put her sleuthing skills to the test to find out what really happened.
The narrator Madeline Mrozek did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to in one sitting and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.
If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

This is the first book of Lisa B Thomas that I have read, but it won't be the last!
Not always a fan of cozy mysteries, this on could change my mind with twists, turns and a conspiracy theory, this kept my attention to the end. The characters were fun, well developed and were like someone you know.
I also like the narration of Madeline Mrozek. She has an easy listening voice adding character and interest to each person in the book. I look forward to hearing her again, especially for the other books in this series.
The highest praise I can give a book is that I will listen to again, Sharpe Shooter falls into that category, I had that much fun listening to it!

One of my favorite mystery series I own on Audible is also narrated by Madeline, so I was really excited to listen to this new series! The narration of Deana, Russell & all the townsfolk were done really well & it was easy to discern each of the characters from one another.
This mystery is a cold case that gets revived when the body of Matthew is officially found and identified. I like cold case mysteries because they always have a historical story line & in this case a really cool second running plot about JFK. The story had depth but it felt realistic. The characters are multi dimensional & have plenty of room to grow through the books in the series. I hope more will be out soon! I received this book in exchange for my honest review
