Publisher's summary

Caleb Parker has been on the run from his past ever since his father, a serial murderer known by the name of Shame, was electrocuted by the state of Florida. Wishing for nothing more than to start life anew and away from the dark shadows of his past, Caleb tries to distance himself from his father’s legacy by moving to California. But even when he’s far from his father’s killing grounds, the past catches up with Caleb when a new series of murders occurs - reminiscent of Shame’s brutal handiwork. Once more Caleb is thrust into the spotlight - only this time as the prime suspect.

With the police hungry to convict him, Caleb seeks help from true-crime author Elizabeth Line, the very writer who became renowned by first surviving his father’s terrible crimes, and then documenting them. Shame is a nail-biting tour de force that will leave listeners glued to their seats.

My 8th Alan Russell novel

I really liked the first seven Alan Russell novels and gave most of them 5 stars. Shame is a boring serial murder novel, a bad story As I write this I am 9 hours into this 10 hour novel and I am not going to complete it. Had it been written by an author I was unfamiliar with I would have stopped it much sooner. Narration is great.

It's a Shame I wasted a credit on this

I have listened to hundreds of books and it is very rare for me to choose to stop listening mid-book. It got to the point where I was shaking my head saying "let's see - he is going to do so something else he shouldn't do so they think he is guilty". I couldn't stand it anymore. I just don't care how it ends...cause if it was up to me - with the choices he made in the book - I would find him guilty and put him away myself. What a waste of a good credit.

Fast Paced Exploit of Shame

Where does Shame rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best mysteries!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lola, because she adds a certain something.

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but is is an awesome reader!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

True crime writing, fascination with serial killers and radio interviews bring us into the present setting of this incredibly fast paced psychological thriller were nothing is what it appears to be, not even the characters!
Remarkable fluidity of the author's pen makes this an interesting and thoroughly enjoyable read. As the title implies, shame is taken under the microscope and analyzed, with twists and turns I was not able to foresee. The novel's premise describes the life of a true crime author, who focuses on a serial killer who apparently reaches out even after his execution. She is pulled back into his story and that is where this brilliantly written book starts. Enjoy!

Very entertaining. Audiobook held my attention!

My four year old accidentally ordered the audiobook when she grabbed my kindle and started tapping on the screen. On a whim, I decided to listen, and was taken in quite quick with the way the story developed. The audio book performance was top notch, as well!

If you like mystery and suspense, give this one a shot. Now I'm interested in checking out some of the author's other books.
