Best of Detective Jason Strong series so far!

At almost 5 hours in length Shadow of Doubt is the longest audio book in the series. It is also the best suspense mystery of the 10 books in the series that I have read. Strong's police partner who is also Strong's wife's best friend is accused of killing her cheating husband. The circumstantial case is likely strong enough to get a conviction.

This series of suspense mysteries by John Dalglish is set in San Antonio Texas. The novellas are quick listens that just tell the story without any excess wordiness. Narration is consistently excellent.

Another great Jason Strong story

This is another great story in the Detective Jason Strong series. It is a clean, thrilling read that keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you fear that Jason will loose his partner, Vanessa. The characters in this story have depth, faults, real life problems, strong friendships and you can not help but be attached to them. The narrator fits the audiobook well, imparting tension, doubt and emotion into his narration. This story can be read as a stand-alone but each book has threads that run between them building depth into both the worlds and its characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this great detective story and look forward to another in the series. I received the audiobook at no cost and under no obligation to review.

Another good listen

I received a free copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I'm really enjoying John Dalglish's books.  This is the 15th book in the Jason Strong series.  I'm really going to have to be careful because I haven't read or listened to all 15 of the prior stories, so some times things can get missed.

In this book, Detective Strong's partner Vanessa Lane is on suspension due to her having hit a prisoner.  Things go from bad to worse when her husband gets killed.  Of course, there is no other suspect that holds up through the investigation, so things look bad for Vanessa.  As good friends and partners, Strong doesn't believe in her guilt and strives to find the clues to solve the homicide.

The book was well written, easy to listen too, really liking the narrator as well, and is a nice afternoon's pick to listen to.  Looking forward to more of them.

Another solid mystery from Dalglish

Jason Strong is working with a new, he hopes temporary partner, Diana Torres. It's not that he has any objection to Torres; she's a good cop, and a good detective. But the reason for the change is that Vanessa Lane is on suspension, awaiting a disciplinary hearing after she struck a suspect in a previous case.

But things are about to get much, much worse, because Strong and Torres are called to the scene of a homicide, and the dead man is Lane's husband.

He and Lane had argued earlier, and he had asked her for a divorce.

Strong and Torres have to sort through the evidence, with Torres taking the lead, because Strong is too close to the case. Meanwhile, a very persistent, oddly hostile reporter, who apparently has some kind of a past with Lane, is on their backs every step of the way.

It's tightly plotted, with well-developed characters, and I'm confident this series can be read out of order because, as it happens, I'm doing that. There's enough backstory so new readers are not lost, and we are given enough basis to care about the characters.

Recommended.
