Publisher's summary

For years now, Scarlett Bernard has counted on two things: her ability to nullify magic, and Shadow, the bargest who guards Scarlett with her life. But after a sudden revelation turns Scarlett's world upside down, she panics and leaves town without warning, leaving Shadow with her partner, Jesse. In the chaos that follows, the bargest is stolen - and Jesse nearly dies from a brutal psychic assault.

It seems that an old enemy has returned for revenge...and the attack on Shadow was only the beginning. As Scarlett races home to find the bargest and rescue her friends, she is dragged deeper into a terrifying legend that has somehow found its way to present-day Los Angeles.

Now she will have to recruit every possible ally for a battle that will test her null ability to the limit. Scarlett has been in over her head before, but now she risks losing everything...and she's never had more to lose.

Harry Potter for Adults!

What made the experience of listening to Shadow Hunt the most enjoyable?

Melissa F. Olsen's characters are full of, well, character and very real. Or as real as characters set in a make believe world can be.

Have you listened to any of Amy McFadden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Amy McFadden is always super!active. I've listened to both Scarlet Bernard series and one or two others read by Amy.

Any additional comments?

To understand the relationship of the characters, I suggest reading the series in order. Though it doesn't matter if you read the Boundary series or the Scarlett Bernard series first. Melissa F. Olsen's books are fun, imaginative, and well written. Some of my favorite urban fantasy.

Cliffhangers, why does it have to be cliffhangers

apart from the ending which is open ended enough to give many more books, but a perfect place to end the series as well....

yeah apart from that I loved the book, it wasn't a certain part that got me but the sum of it's parts fitting together in a better whole...
Melissa and Amy really hit it out of the park with this one
great story and great narration both

Great story

I actually started this old World Series with boundary magic. Then started with blood sick. This series is amazing. The characters are well developed. The narrator is amazing .

Outstanding

I loved listening to this story. The performance was very good and the story wrapped up a lot of loose ends. It was exciting and action filled but still had good character growth.

Almost good

A frequent problem with readers: dialogue readings may be good, but in the expositive sections, the incessant and unrelenting up-lilt at end of sentences is excruciating to listen to. I am so happy to return to reading the text.

Best one yet

I've listened to this a few times now and just seems to get better every time. The story is great and detailed but not so much that you start to ignore all of the information. Can't wait for the next Scarlett book!
