Publisher's summary

A new novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series: Lt. Eve Dallas must separate rumors from reality when a woman who traffics in other people's secrets is silenced.

The chic Manhattan nightspot Du Vin is not the kind of place Eve Dallas would usually patronize, and it's not the kind of bar where a lot of blood gets spilled. But that's exactly what happens one cold February evening.

The mortally wounded woman is Larinda Mars, a self-described "social information reporter," or as most people would call it, a professional gossip. As it turns out, she was keeping the most shocking stories quiet, for profitable use in her side business as a blackmailer. Setting her sights on rich, prominent marks, she'd find out what they most wanted to keep hidden and then bleed them dry. Now someone's done the same to her, literally - with a knife to the brachial artery.

Eve didn't like Larinda Mars. But she likes murder even less. To find justice for this victim, she'll have to plunge into the dirty little secrets of all the people Larinda Mars victimized herself. But along the way, she may be exposed to some information she really didn't want to know...

Okay but not as good as previous books

I live the In Death books. This one had some good Eve and Roark moments, but the solving of the murder seemed to happen out of the blue and the ending was rather anticlimactic. Narration excellent as always.

Disappointed

Was disappointed and that's a first. I love the series. Just felt this one felt like it was rushed and story line felt unfinished.

Please add Male Narrator

This would have earned 5’s all around if a male narrator read male characters and love scenes. It is uncomfortable listening to Ms. Erickson some times. She is a great voice for the female characters. Love scenes are like listening to you grandma talk about sex.

I’ve either read or listen to the entire In Death series. The narration on this one was annoying.

Enjoyed this one very much!

I like all the books in this series. This one is a nice break from harsh, gory violence and serial
killers.

Gossip paid

This book is easy to read and made the idea of gossiping so distasteful as it was as easy. Secrets are often a person's undoing. I really enjoy the characters in this series and look forward to the next book.

still a good series

the story was one of the better ones in recent history but I still struggle with the voices provided by the storyteller. many times it is hard to tell who she is portraying because the differences are too subtle. the main relationships are still intact. the author did not spend too much time in great detail on the history of the main characters, which was much needed relief. there was just enough to know what happened for a new reader to be curious enough to go back and a seasoned reader to get through without being completely annoyed.

A fun addition to the series!

Another fun book in the In Death series. This was more mystery, less emotional development with the characters. It seemed like there was also less character/place/time introduction for new readers, which was great for me as a long term reader of the series. The villain wasn't a big surprise, but it was a fun read and I'd recommend it.

A 45th success for JD Robb

I read many of these stories before I started listening to audio books on my cell phone. Last summer i started at the beginning & read them all in order. I was glad when this one was offered for purchase. Love this series#

Another hit!

Loved this book, the fact that she keeps bringing old characters back in and letting us know what's going on with them now! I impatiently waiting for the next one
