Publisher's summary

Excited to explore the secrets of wine country, Brooklyn attends an excavation of the caves hidden deep under her parents' commune - and the findings are explosive. A room is unearthed, and it contains a treasure trove of artwork, rare books, a chest of jewelry...and a perfectly mummified body. A closer examination of the murdered man's possessions reveals a valuable first edition of Jules Verne's A Journey to the Center of the Earth. Hidden in the book is a secret map that unveils an even greater hoard of treasures. As reporters and art appraisers flock to Sonoma to see the precious bounty, questions begin to rise. But not all crime is buried in the past. When a new presence threatens the town's peace, Brooklyn decides to do a little excavating of her own...

Love this series

The challenges of Brooklyn as a book restorer and the fact she is known for discovering dead bodies make for fun and fascinating stories.

Ripped from the Pages

I love a good "who done it," especially when I can't figure out "who done it." I look forward to another novel by this author.

then men's voices are awful.

Would you consider the audio edition of Ripped from the Pages to be better than the print version?

I have done both and wouldn't pick one over the other.

Any additional comments?

the men's voices are awful and really do detract from the story. while the English boyfriend is supposed to be a james bond type in looks and action, every time he speaks in the story I cringe. it's the only real downside.

Plot problems

The author needs a better editor to catch discrepancies in the plot and to keep from making her intelligent characters stupid just to further the plot. This would have been an interesting story even without the 2nd murder. Kudos to her for an ending without the main character in danger, tho.
