Publisher's summary
Jacobia Tiptree and her teenage son are used to their Eastport, Maine, home attracting more than its share of houseguests. This year Jake is hoping the plaster dust will keep them away while she finally gets her gem of a fixer-upper into shape - from doorknobs and chandeliers to ghostly phenomena. But when the charming and mysterious Jonathan Raines appears on her doorstep and then just as suddenly disappears, remodeling the house becomes the least of Jake's problems.
Could Jonathan's disappearance have something to do with his quest for a cursed violin that local legend says was hidden by a long-ago owner of Jake's house before he too vanished without a trace? Jake needs to strip Eastport's past of its idyllic veneer before a killer paints her very dead indeed!

Story
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can. I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

This is a great read!!!
This is one of the best mysteries I have read in a long time. Like Jacobia I was stumped as to the identity of the villain. I loved the family dynamics between Jacobia, Wade, and her ex husband. The narrator has a perfect accent for the region. She brings the story to life. I have read the previous three books and plan to read the next book as well. As long as Sarah Graves writes like this, I will read the entire series.

Know What A True Treasure Is!!
Sarah Graves is one of the best expressive explanatory humanitarian story tellers I have ever read!! Really Loved
everything about this story!! How hard life can be for so many. Then how much we all can learn if we have true
friends. To try to understand and truly listen to all those who need help. How amazing life can be everyday when
we love and care about people and animals. This life isn't perfect. Work honest and true! Thank you for your inspiration ! Absolutely love Lindsay Ellison. Perfection Every Word!!!

Good one
These are definitely NOT cozy mysteries. They deal with some pretty heavy topics, the author seems to be moving away from the humor of the first couple of books and the writing, while leaving something to be desired at times is definitely darker. Jake andEllie are investigating the disappearance of a guest at Ellie’s home as well as on a treasure hunt for a missing violin, which if found would be priceless. Sam is caught in a love triangle and Jake is worried he is showing more traits like his father, Victor. The town remains mired I. Relationships and gossip and Victor is as sleazy as ever!!

A Greater Murder Mystery & More
All the characters were well-defined. The mystery was tricky and kept you guessing. In some ways it was a morality play. You got to look into the eyes of people who seemed real somehow. The audiobook version was read by a professional who really knew how to add to a story. I was very well-satisfied with the hours I spent reading and listening to this tale.
