Publisher's summary

When the fae beckon, very few resist. Even fewer return. As a veil witch, I'm used to taking out the supernatural trash. Everything from poltergeists to vampires, you name it and I've dealt with it. So opening a paranormal cleanup business just seemed to make sense. If I'm already dealing with the pests, why not get paid?

But when I accidentally breach the faerie realm to encounter a girl recently reported missing, start seeing the ghost of a witch whose disappearance has never been solved, and discover a Book of Shadows that opens only for me, I can't just go back to business as usual. Especially when I also gain the interest of a sexy and mysterious mage. Timing is everything, and even as my desire grows, a little voice inside keeps reminding me to step carefully. I know all too well that, in the supernatural world, opening doors means facing consequences. In this case, those consequences might just mean never being heard from again.

4 ⭐️

The story was a great concept however the author jumps from one seen before finishing the last one and for a second you have readers whip lash. But over all it was okay Narrated well.

This story is "meh"

I thought after reading the reviews this was going to be really good but it was meh. The readers voice was good but the story was slow, predictable when it did make sense. There was no character build up for anyone really.

C L I F F H A N G E R ..... grrrrrr

What is it with authors being SO INSECURE as to write a really really good, really unique, really interesting book and then ruin it with a cliffhanger ending in it because they think they need to suck people into buying the next book by leaving the book incomplete with a cliffhanger ending ... especially when they didn't need the cliffhanger, the book was already excellent, inventive, creative, and unique, and I would have gladly bought the whole series just based on the first book if it just had any kind of a decent ending. Now I'm so angry at the cliffhanger that I'm not buying any of them, and I'm writing a cranky review in the hope of preventing other people from the same irritating disappointment.

Great Book!

I listened to this audiobook after having already read the book. I admit,I wondered if it would be like comparing a book to a movie, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The audiobook added something new by way of the narrator. The story flowed and struck all the right chords. The narrator had me hooked and I listened to the whole thing in about 24 hours. I literally could not turn it off. Whether you have read the book or not, grab this audiobook. You will not be disappointed!

amusing and fun

fun premis, good world building. the characters are pretty great. i love the dorm/apartment building of witches. I'm a little confused as to why the main character cant/doesn't have a bank account or drivers license since she's back now and as a missing person being found would totally be allowed to have those things?

so I think that a prequel would have been good when it comes to the story of her sister ( autumn) and her the main character 15 years not being herself. because alluding to or mentioning stuff in passing kind of made it seem like I missed out on a book in the series. like the sisters been married and had a husband die? there's just more I want to know!!!

I really enjoyed the ghost clearing and more!

Realms of Ghosts and Magic by J.S. Malcolm and narrated by Rachel Dulude really is a great book a book a gal that has magic and can sense and see ghosts. She uses that skill to make a living clearing ghosts from houses. This has plenty of stories about that and more! Very coool! I loved it all the way through but then it just stop! I stayed up until almost 3am to finish the book but it was a Cliffhanger!!! Ugh! I have cliffhangers! I took one state away for that!
The narration was very good also!

Mediocre magical story

This is my first time trying this author, and the book made me unsure if it was book 1 of a spinoff story, or just poorly designed. A lot of crazy stuff happened to the main character in the 15 years prior to the start of this novel, apparently, which is glossed over - not to say that it's not described, but the series of events that are detailed don't match with how the main and supporting characters then act (very blase). The MC has no personality and zero sense, though I can't really explain the latter without spoilers. Suffice to say that even having an education to the age of 11 is enough to learn about stranger danger, so she has no excuse. The magic system is also not well flushed out / described (again, maybe if this is a spinoff? I don't care enough to check as I will not be seeking out other books by this author), and the plot was predictable. I gave it 3 stars because I listened all the way through. I wouldn't recommend using a credit for this, but you could consider it if on big sale and you're bored

One very rude witch!

The story was just OK. What I didn’t like was how the witch just dove in and started slamming her Customer for her taste in decorating. not just a little bit either, she kept going on and on about it. He not only about her decorating, but about the way she looked. she was hateful. I didn’t like it at all.

What exactly is the plot?

This book starts out with a veil which who is acting as a ghost buster by helping people get rid of ghosts, poltergeists, etc. That are in their houses. Her main job is at a magical bookstore. People come and go, but it wasn’t until chapter 15 or so that it finally felt like the story actually had a plot of sorts. It didn’t really become very clear at all until near the end chapters, and while this book ends on a cop hanger, I’m not interested in finding out anymore.
