Publisher's summary

Homicide Detective David Bagini awakens in a strange world only to discover that he is, in fact, the 42nd clone of the Bagini line. With no memories of why his Prime entered into a clone contract, he wants answers. The first problem is his Prime is dead and Bagini 42 is in charge of the investigation. The second problem is all the clues point at a clone from his line and they already know all his tricks. How can he solve his own murder when every suspect has his name and face?

We have met the enemy and they is us.

Any additional comments?

This is a clever little SciFi book.

You're a detective--one of the best--expected to solve a murder. Failure to do so may cost you and everyone related to you their existence. The murder victim is you. The murderer may be you. You may also be an accomplice. The police chief is interfering in the investigation (also you). And there probably isn't any move you can make that the murderer(s) can't anticipate.

Perhaps the best aspect of the book is it's glimpse into the essence of individuality and self-discovery. It's a nature versus nurture experiment taken to the extreme.

a very interesting premise with great character development and unexpected plot twists. I highly recommend it for mystery and science fiction lovers both.

Me, Myself and 42.

I really liked Confessions of a D-list Super Villain and the Dead Eye series so I went ahead and took a chance on this book. While good, detective stories are just not my thing. Mostly this is about coming to term with being a clone. I was hoping it would be funnier, in which case I wouldn't have cared what the main story line was about. There is no humor in this book. Only me, myself, 42 and a bunch of other clones that have vastly different personalities. Narrator was a little dry, but overall he was okay.

I think I'm a clone now!

The naratin was excelent and fit the charaters perfectly. I loved the references, hidden and obviouse alike. I like the same character turning out differently depending on circumstances!

Would Love to Have More In This Universe

Audible says this book is just under five hours long, but it seemed much longer. It was a great 'read'. I loved this clone world and thought the plot was clever. The narrator did a great job of voicing Bagini 42, and thankfully did not overdo the female characters with that falsetto voice I despise so much. I would love to read more with these characters.

It was ok. Not as good as D-list supervillain

Story didn't keep my attention. The who done-it wasn't strong. D-list Supervillain series was awesome. This didnt quit live up.

A Fun Sci-fi Twist on a Detective Novel

This was a hard one to put down. Being a lover of sci-fi and detective stories, this satisfied my sweet tooth nicely. It helps that the social component of the clone question was well addressed as well. Over all, I am pleased with my purchase and will buy it again. This has also influenced two or three future RPGs I might run as well.

Surprisingly Good

I almost didn't get this because it's shorter than most books, and I like long, full bodied novels. Well this one is full bodied, just didn't have all the filler most novels do. I liked the general description of the book, so gave it a chance -- so glad I did: plenty of action, thought provoking, twisting, and just as good as books twice as long. I was afraid I'd feel cheated or unsatisfied, but it was just the opposite. I'll look for more by this author.
