Publisher's summary

"Kill Pope Francis" is the order given to a Russian spy. "Kill the Russian spy" is the order given to five CIA operatives....

In Turkey, the CIA intercepts a plot to assassinate a Western target. The Agency calls Chris Paladin, Hannah Andrade, and Sonny Cohen to hunt the assassin.

Meanwhile, the CIA sends brothers Max and Tom Wayne to Syria to track down a new bioweapon called BK-16. But the brothers become infected, and their mission quickly changes to finding an antidote.

Both missions lead the five CIA operatives to Italy. There, they launch covert operations from a muscle yacht on the Mediterranean Sea. Soon, they uncover a Russian spy, code-named Minotaur, ordered to use BK-16 to assassinate Pope Francis....

The team:

Chris "Reverend" Paladin left SEAL Team Six to become a pastor. Until the CIA pulled him back in. He's quick on the draw and efficient under fire.

Hannah "Infidel" Andrade delivers a triple knockout with her elegant smile, mixed martial arts skills, and Agency tradecraft. The CIA tapped her to be team leader, and she tapped her best friend, Chris, for this mission.

Sonny "Sunshine" Cohen is the insult comic who terrorizes terrorists. He is on loan to the Agency from the Army's Delta Force. Also known as "Super Jew".

Max "Yukon" Wayne crossed over from SEAL Team Six to the dark side: the CIA's Special Operations Group. He lost his parents and his faith, and he'll do anything to protect the only family he has left - his brother, Tom.

Tom "Tomahawk" Wayne is Max's younger brother. Their Marine father taught them special ops skills from an early age, and Tom put those skills to use during a tour as an Army Ranger in the Middle East. Tom loves to read and has adorkable moments.

And you....

Traditional Spy Novel

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this unbiased, voluntary review.

I will preface this review by saying I have not read the other 4 books in this series that predate this one.

I throughly enjoyed this novel. It was fast-paced action that kept me on the edge of my seat. I haven’t read many spy novels, but this makes me want to read more. I would especially like to read some of the author’s other work.

I do have a few problems. Many characters were not explained well. I didn’t know who they were or any motivation. But, this is most likely because they were explained in the other novels. Also, something that irks me is the first line of the book synopsis doesn’t take place until 75% into the book. The order to kill Pope Francis isn’t part of most of the story. Even so, none of it felt like fluff or unrealistic.

The narration by Brian Troxell was great. He never missed a beat. He wasn’t monotone like I was worried about and he gave incredible voices. Many characters got accents which were done very well. None of them sounded the same, and they were distinct.

Overall, I would recommend this book mostly for those who have read the previous books. But, newcomers are still welcomed for this incredible book.

slow.. so painfully slow

felt like narrator should be reading children's stories. just never picked up a pace... that coupled with a bunch of useless filler details... I tried several times to get through book but finally gave up at chapter 20

Average Chatacters. Story ruined by start.

Story: It was a nice fun story though the big part was ruined in the beginning. made that scene less impactful.

Structure: Was fine except the start of the book ruining a major part. Too many saids. Be nice to use a more clever way than keep saying said.

Characters: Memorable enough I cared to hear them.

Narrator: I had no issues with him. I could tell for the most part who was who.

Range: Could have had a tad more range.

I received this book for free in exchange for a voluntary unbiased review.

Final statement: Worth a listen. A fun action book.

Good from beginning to end

The author introduces you to several great characters without going on and on and on. Exciting story and it doesn’t lag at any point.

Nothing unique but well executed

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily
left this review.

So, this is pretty much your typical secial ops action movie story. It's nothing groundbreaking and new, but it IS entertaining. The narration is pretty good and the writing isn't horrible. I thought the author did a good job of highlighting the diverse skill sets that teams of operators have. It reminded me a lot of that TV show, The Brave. If you're looking for a well written and narrated military action story, you will like this one.
