Publisher's Summary

Marshall Hail was a husband, a father, a Physics Nobel Prize winner, and industrial billionaire. But when Hail's family was killed in a terrorist attack, he became a predator and redirected his vast industrial assets toward one goal - removing every person on the FBI's top 10 terrorist list.

With the help of his MIT colleagues, Hail designed and built a devastating arsenal of attack drones of all shapes and sizes that are flown by the nation's best young gamers. The world will come to realize that Marshall Hail possesses the capability of getting to anyone, anywhere, at any time - unleashing an operation so disturbing that the CIA has named it Operation Hail Storm.

Thanks to Michael Ashcraft for Wondeful Narration!

What made the experience of listening to Operation Hail Storm the most enjoyable?

It was wonderful working with the new undiscovered talent, Michael Ashcraft. When I heard him read the samples of HAIL STORM, I was like "That's the voice or Marshall Hail". I was just hoping that he would agree to read the darn thing. And as luck would have it, he loved the book, we struck a deal, and we dove head first into the narration project.

What did you like best about this story?

I wrote Operation Hail Storm because my kids were having Rainbow Six being read in class. Their teacher had to stop reading Clancy's book because there were too many profanities in the novel.. I thought that I could write a great black ops type of book with less violence, but still a lot of action. Drone action! I wanted to have young people in the book and give it a military feel, but not be a military book.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene is when the pirates try to board the Nucleus. There is an interesting dynamic where it is life and death to the pirates, yet it is almost a game for the Hail crew. This shows how advanced Hail's technology has become, where they don't really consider a mass of armed men as a threat.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My extreme reaction was joy, when Michael finished narrating the book,. I had many fans write me and ask me how long until the audio book. These days, many readers have turned into listeners. I happen to be one of those converts. I love listening to books while I drive my kids to different events. So finally, after months of hard work, when the book appeared on Audible, it was very satisfying to be able to write those people and tell them that HAIL STORM was ready to be heard.

Any additional comments?

I would like to thank all those who read the book and left great reviews. These days, It's really up to the readers and listeners, if the book becomes a hit or not. Please check back, because the next book in the series ,HAIL WARNING, is done and is in the editing phase. Hopefully, Mr. Ashcraft will agree to read book 2 as well.

Thanks, again for giving an unknown write (me) a shot at being known,

Brett Duncan Arquette

An exciting story

I received the book from the author for an honest review. (and after that I bought it)

and I loved it, yes it's long but for good reasons, at sometimes it can be overwhelming at times since the plot being of terrorism and lost at points can get a little heavy.

However the tech warfare and good balance that the author achieve make the plot interesting and I liked that it was fun when it needed too.

I don't know what to make of Kara but, hopefully she can redeem herself on the second book, by a point I was like Hail you're too soft with her really, but okay let's be patient and see how everything unfold on this series.

The drone thing was so cool and other point that buy me into the book was that it mentioned Panamá and since I live there I was almost automatically flattered with that.

Definitely a good tech warfare thriller with an amazingly good pace. Can't wait till the next one.

What a thrilling exciting ride LOVED IT

There are so many wonderful things about this book from the action, to being a clean read but still gives you what you crave in an action adventure book at the same time giving you the just of what is going on such as the spy slept with the enemy to set him up for the next stage of the mission but you do not read all the in things in between. You have a nice steady pace filled with action, thrills, excitement to keep you blood running. A few heart stopping moments and some close calls. So many reviews talk about spelling or grammar errors (I have not read it so this I can’t say) but with the audio you get none of that. I enjoyed that the characters were made up of teens and young adults making it like a game for them but still knowing how serious what they are doing is. The common ground is that they have been affected by the outcome of what they call the Five. It’s a seek and destroy mission taking out those that took their love ones leaving some homeless and others without their love ones. Marshall takes them on giving their live meaning as well as teaching them the things a parent would, making them well rounded teens. When all is said and done you get a high tech action adventure story that the whole family can listen to together and enjoy.

The narrator was outstanding from showing emotions to the wonderful tones of each character. He really bought the book to life giving a realistic feeling making you feel part of the story. As the drones took off I found myself leaning with them as they curved to their destination. He added the humor the author put in the story with a chuckle to a sigh and all the ones in between. I had no trouble feeling the pain, tears and sorrow. I loved the accents he gave to some characters they fit them so well. His voice for Marshall fits to a T from his sexy, serious to angry it comes across strong, smooth and at times very sexy. The teens are so realistic from their young excitement to the slang. There were a few times he repeated words I am guessing this is when he took a break. It is noticeable but does not take away from the story. I found no background noises or any place where the volume changes from chapter to chapter or page to page. The many different character voices were just great from the male to the female I always knew who was talking and what they were feeling. He really bought this audio to life for me it was easy to see the scenes as they unfold, knowing how it affected each character. The narrator knows how to entertain and keep your attention. This is the first time I have ever listened to this narrator and it won’t be the last. I do hope he narrators the next one in this series.

The author had me hooked from the danger, excitement to the true emotion he gives each character. I totally enjoyed the names of each drone even laughed at a few. He adds just enough humor to make it interesting but not too much that it takes away from the seriousness of the story. Marshall had it all taking dangerous waste and turning it in to something we all need, along with tons of money, a wife and two girls. Losing them is the hardest thing he has ever done. Now he wants revenge! There is a hard side to him but a must softer one as well, you can tell those kids he has working for him mean the world to him as well as his passion for clean energy. He lets the kids be kids while teaching them normal reasonability making them well rounded in a world that has taken so much away from them. The author does repeat a few things back to back in different ways but it doesn’t take away from the story. It really is a fun read with humor but also very serious. The author shows the serious side of loss and revenge as well as building a relationship and teaching children what is important. He also shows how important it is to save the planet taking something very dangerous and making it very useful. I can see how a young teen would love this book and maybe just maybe want someone to think outside the box trying to find solutions to the world problems making this a more safe and kind world. Don’t get me wrong it is a spy thriller taking out bad guys but it also has meaning. I really was hooked from the first page until the very end. The book ends so it can lead into the next book in the series which looks to be just as exciting as this one was. If you are looking for a book you can listen with as a family this would be a good one. I am not so sure it is for really young children but a great one for teens. You will find just about everything here from thrills, chills, excitement, danger and so much more. I can hardly wait for the next one to come out in audio.

Great Drones

The premise of the book is what interested me. The drones and all the technology had my head dancing with all the possibilities. I noted many reviewers complained about all the typos and errors on the e-book. On the audiobook format there are no spelling or grammar errors. The narrator and staff must have done a lot of the editing but still some errors came through. I understand the book is self-published. I have read a number of self- published books in the past few years with the fun of discovery of a new author. The book kept my attention. I was fascinated with all the various drones and the technology of the ships. The characters were interesting. My only complaint was the repetition when switching back and forth between the good and bad guys. I think that could have been written differently and not wasted time on repeating scenes. There is lots of great action and suspense in the story.

The book is fourteen hours. Michael Ashcroft does a good job narrating the book. Michael Ashcroft is a new narrator for me as is the author, Brett Arquette.

This book stinks! Sorry I wasted my money it.

Poorly written. Laughably far fetched story. Characters are all super men or women (Nobel prize winning nuclear physicist and the CIA agent is not only super smart but, as we are told repeatedly, the most incredibly beautiful woman in the world). Save your money and time by finding a better book.

Masterful Arquette strikes one for the good guys!

Having just finished this marvellous book, I cannot wait for the sequel! The book is chock full of action with fully developed characters and an interplay between the many disparate personalities who, despite the serious subject matter, occasionally pull at ones heartstrings. Anyone from teens upwards who loves a great action adventure story (be it in book or movie format) with a smattering of the futuristic about it, will absolutely love this book. The technology described is detailed and convincing; to the point that one is unsure what is real and what imagined. Drones? Mini drones? Drones which transport multiple micro drones? Fascinating and riveting! The descriptions of places, people and the circumstances in which they find themselves are also very detailed and thoroughly believable, at times quite moving and all serving to draw you on and building to the climactic finish. Though, very cleverly, Arquette has left us with a minor cliffhanger at the very end which has made me impatient for more of the same.
