Publisher's Summary

Dan Cooper has never been the perfect husband to Lisa. He travels for work and plays the carefree bachelor when he can. But now, on a solo business trip, in a remote coastal hotel, he's surprised to find Lisa in his bedroom. She's dead.

He has no idea how she got there, but one chilling fact is clear: everything points to Dan having murdered her. Someone is trying to frame him. Someone who might still be watching. In panic, he goes on the run. But even as he flees across Europe, his unknown assailant stacks up the evidence against him.

Dan is determined to clear his name and take revenge on Lisa's killer, but the culprit is closing in. And then there's the agony of his own guilty conscience. No, he didn't kill her - but is it all his fault?

Only the truth

I thought that was very very good I like those kind of books the only reason I gave 4 was because people might not like it because ther short bunch of four letter words that some people might not approve but that didn't matter to me. I think it's a great read.

An enjoyable short book

I honestly didn't think I would enjoy this but I did. Every time I thought I had the book figured out it takes another turn and I was thrown off. I was drawn into the book and didn't want to come out of it. I would recommend this book without a doubt.

Okay, but slow

I read thrillers almost exclusively for the way they can hook me and make me not want to stop listening until the end. Honestly, this book didn’t do that. In fact, I fell asleep so many times listening to it, I ended up taking months long breaks from it and only finished it today because there wasn’t much left and I didn’t want to start another book just yet. The hook for the story is a good one, a mystery and thriller at the same time, but the story gets sidetracked in the middle in a way that doesn’t seem to matter and loses the sense of edge-of-seat dread that it needed.

LOVE IT!!!!!

Love the accent on the narrator. The storyline is very interesting. You don't want to put the book down until the mystery is solved.

Don't Waste Your Money

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

People from Britian

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The British accent.

Any additional comments?

It was so slow, the British accent sucked. I listened to an hour and couldn't take it anymore. It was a waste of my money!

Not for me

I thought this would be something like Gone Girl but I was wrong. It was a lackluster attempt. The main character was dreadful and annoying. The climax was anything but. And the ending a dull thud. I usually don't give bad reviews but the only thing endearing about it was the audio performance.

Okay, but disappointing!!

Only the Truth is a decent suspense thriller, but author Adam Croft has done much better in his other novels. The author attempts to justify protagonist Dan Cooper's nonsensical and self destructive decisions by digging into his bad childhood, but Dan following Jess' lead makes no sense at all. On the other hand, Jess, who is either evil or a high performing psychotic, would make an excellent lead character in a psychological thriller series. She's a female version of Joe Goldberg in Caroline Kepnes' novels You and Hidden Bodies. Nigel Patterson's narration is outstanding.

Unrealistic, immature and clichéd

Not recommended at all. The story didn't make much sense, the characters were unrealistic and didn't act like real people would, and the writing was quite immature. No idea how this was even published....

Good storyline if a little predictable

Good storyline, a little predictable but a good first audio book. A good one to drift off to and then go back to.
