Publisher's summary

Kate Bishop is in a world of trouble. In the wake of several inexplicable and brutal murders, Kate is thrust into a police inquiry that reveals shocking family secrets. Suddenly exposed to a shadowy network of global evil, her life takes a dramatic turn with the arrival of Jack Raines, an author with a mysterious past who says he has the answers to her questions. What's more, he suggests that Kate herself might be the solution.

But hot on their heels are a force of superpredators, vicious and bloodthirsty killers who will stop at nothing until Kate and Jack are eliminated. Like Jack, they've realized just how special Kate is, and now she's marked for death.

An explosive mix of action and suspense, Nest is a landmark new novel from worldwide best-selling author Terry Goodkind and a complete reinvention of the paranormal thriller. Travel with Goodkind on a dangerous journey to the back alleys of the darknet, to the darkest corners of our minds, and to the very origins of what it is to be human, a place few have ventured to and fewer still have survived.

Hopefully this is just the beginning

Such a good book, I loved it! It's a terrific change of pace, and thank you Terry Goodkind for bringing a female character into light that can seriously kick ass!! I love it!! please keep this story alive with at least 10 more books, Elisabeth Rodgers does a fabulous job of narrating, of I could give her a ten star I would, I can't wait for book two!!

Average Writing, Slow Plotting

The writing's not bad, thankfully, but not quite up to snuff. Too much attention to facial expressions and superfluous character thoughts give it an amateurish feel. Also, there's a lot of 'telling' instead of 'showing.' However, I could have overlooked these things had the story been captivating, but the plotting is painfully slow. I gave up after 20 or so chapters.

Great book!

I have read every book Terry Goodkind has written. I was not disappointed in this one! It was a departure from what most readers are used to from Mr Goodkind. However it was still a great book. Sometimes different is a good thing. In this case it was a great thing. To me it just proves that Mr Goodkind is a true master of his craft. I can't wait until the next installment comes out!

Unrelatable hero character, obvious proselytizing

The women characters in the story were relatable but the main male character was questionably trustworthy and had flat personality throughout the book. Goodkind's zionistic zeal is gagworthy in some spots. The science is bad in several places. In general it was not worth my time reading as I could not suspend my disbelief of the characters, situations, grand or specific theories discussed in the book.

Too political

Didn't need the running political commentary. Also, the ending was disappointing. The reader intoned anger and disgust in odd places.

Goodkind frustrates again

Terry Goodkind is the most frustrating author I have come across in 20 yrs. He comes up with the most amazing story concepts but then lets his self indulgent need to preach just take over and ruins the story. Overlong monologues, soapbox preaching, etc etc. This is the exact reason I bailed on The Sword of Truth.

Flawless

I bought this audio book as a deal of the day, and what a deal it was. The characters were well developed and interesting. The plot was excellent and well paced. The narrator was spectacular, and the concept was is as frightening as it is believable. This chilling rollercoaster ride was scary and fun, just as all roller coaster rides should be. Don't miss this amazing read.
