More suitable for teens.

The story sounded like stories I read when I went was in middle school. The main character Libby, was quick to feel faint and shocked and had childish thoughts, reactions and responses throughout
the book. Several characters went on & on about blaming themselves for things that happened during the story and in the past. The narrator portrayed some characters as being a sullen little girl.

It portrayed the Tor climb as easier than it is.

It portrayed the Tor climb as easier than it is. But it was quite enjoyable.

Terrible narrator

I’ve given this particular narrator a fair chance (3 books) and I just can’t.
No matter how good the plot is, or how good the characters are, or how clever the humor, I CANNOT LISTEN TO THIS NARRATOR’S CONSTANT WHINING. She does Libby a great disservice because she makes her sound pathetic and needy even when the author (I’m assuming) has no intent to make her seem that way!
I’m skipping all of the books read by this narrator and going to the later ones where Charlotte Stevens reads. She does the other series by this author and I think she does at least 200x better than Jennifer Dixon. I’m honestly surprised that this type of cadence is appealing to anyone.

Could Easily be Better

The story has interesting elements but I never feel invested. The narration is dull, almost lifeless. The combination is very meh. A good story to listen to when you want to go to sleep. More development of story elements and a snappier delivery could help add a few stars.

Plot problems

In addition to some plot problems that I won’t mention due to spoilers, in my opinion, any novel that feels the need to have a story depend on hurting animals shouldn’t be published.

Ok because it is free

The most interesting characters are the dogs. The storyline is weak, the characters even less and the narrator is monotone to point of annoying. It doesn’t help that her voice makes the characters sound as if they are quite older and almost feeble.

Oh what an ugly rug

We weave, when we practice to…put us asleep in narration and the reason a killer kills. Both brought the lights down in my brain.

Narration ruins it

The story is fine and would be enjoyable with a different narrator. Dixon makes all the characters sound like they are 60 years old and the same person.
