Publisher's summary

Agatha Christie’s most famous murder mystery, read by director and star of the film adaptation, Kenneth Branagh.

Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside.

Isolated and with a killer in their midst, detective Hercule Poirot must identify the murderer – in case he or she decides to strike again.

Critic reviews

“Need it be said – the little grey cells solve once more the seemingly insoluble. Mrs Christie makes an improbable tale very real, and keeps her readers enthralled and guessing to the end.” Times Literary Supplement

“A brilliantly ingenious story.” Dorothy L. Sayers, Daily Herald

“Ingenuity at its height … the idea is utterly novel, the setting a model of realism, and the characters a versatile, attractive crew.” Woman’s Journal

His accents are very good

Would you listen to Murder on the Orient Express again? Why?

I don't think so. I was reading the book at the same time as listening to it, so I hardly missed anything.

What did you like best about this story?

Everything is a clue! Damn it was too clever!!

Which character – as performed by Kenneth Branagh – was your favorite?

The sweedish woman. it was quite close to how it should sound. Anyhow what impressed me is that he utelized many aaccents that sounded very convincing!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh when I got things right and at some other things.

Any additional comments?

Really good! And very fun!

The best piece of spoken theatre

Agatha Christie's words read out perfectly and masterfully by Kenneth Branagh. He was simply sublime - acting out every character as though there really was an entire cast involved in the production. Highly recommended as it is an absolute treat!
