Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Lisa Renee Jones' heart-pounding thriller of a woman's secrets - and a past that's about to come out of hiding...

As an FBI profiler, it's Lilah Love's job to think like a killer. And she is very good at her job. When a series of murders surface - the victims all stripped naked and shot in the head - Lilah's instincts tell her it's the work of an assassin, not a serial killer. But when the case takes her back to her hometown in the Hamptons and a mysterious but unmistakable connection to her own life, all her assumptions are shaken to the core.

Thrust into a troubled past she's tried to shut the door on, Lilah's back in the town where her father is mayor, her brother is police chief, and she has an intimate history with the local crime lord's son, Kane Mendez. The two share a devastating secret, and only Kane understands Lilah's own darkest impulses. As more corpses surface, so does a series of anonymous notes to Lilah, threatening to expose her. Is the killer someone in her own circle? And is she the next target?

Full of mystery and intrigue!

5 Crazy Ass Must Listen Stars!!!!!

Two people made this story. First, Lisa Renee Jones with her superb writing and storylines that get your mind spinning. And second, Grace Grant with her amazing narration.
LRJ continually writes stories that just draw me in. I'm not one to veer toward a murder mystery but when I saw that LRJ newest release was available via Romance Package, I snatched this audio treat right up and dove right in. All I had to see was "Lisa Renee Jones" and "new release" and I was all over it. Then imagine my delight when I saw Grace Grant was the narrator. She has quickly become a favorite of mine with her work on the Mount Trilogy and Savage Trilogy by Meghan March. She just has this was of drawing you in to the story, making you so damn comfortable, and having you ignore the outside world. She brings the characters to life and performs the narration in such a way that it feels like your tossed in that world. This was no different.
Lilah Love is wrapped up in some crazy stuff. So many questions. So many twists. None of my predictions have panned out so LRJ is keeping me on my toes.
I'm eager to get my hands on Murder Girl next. I just wish it was sooner than July. Oh well, I'll be listening to this again to hold me over until then.

Cliffhanger!!

I hate it when a book ends in a cliffhanger ending. I felt so many issues were left unfinished with this story. The premise of a FBI agent having a relationship with the head of a crime family was intriguing. Add in the agent’s dysfunctional family with political aspirations and it muddled more of the story. Some details in this book were gruesome. Not as much romance to the book as I anticipated. I am curious as to how the story continues.

Abrupt end

This is the first book of two in the series. Know that it is not a stand alone book and just abruptly ends. The audio version is only available for the first book, not the second. Wish I had known before listening to the first book.

Clifhanger

What did you like best about Murder Notes? What did you like least?

decent story, kept me interested but cliffhangers are so frustrating especially when Audible doesn't carry the second book. sigh

Is L. Love the answer to these murders?

Thank you Lisa Renee Jones, for the win on Aural Fixation FB page.

Lilah Love an FBI profiler has found herself in the middle of a crime investigation that not only can’t she solve, but maybe a part of. In addition she feels she is being watched followed and is receiving cryptic messages, which only add to her resolution to find answers to questions, but do these questions and answers have to do with now or a past that she can’t and won’t think about because that involves Kane Mendez her childhood friend ex? love, lover? Who is the son of a dead vicious crime boss. The bullet through the forehead his fathers signature style. Does he have a part in all this? Does she other than being the profiler on the case? Who is sending messages and why?
Cliffhanger, with Murder Girl releasing in July.
What can I say, but I will wait I’m intrigued by this story.
PS Madeleine Maby does an excellent job narrating this book.

Loved it!

This was my first time reading this author and first time listening to a performance by this narrator. Story first: LOVED it!!!!! I didn’t want it to end was sucked in to the sassy of Lilah and the way she thinks and interacts. She is 100% fully developed and it was easy to picture all aspects of her throughout the entire story. So much so that even her nightmares could be felt! Lisa Renee Jones has instantly become a go to author for me and I am starting a new listen tomorrow!

New narrator for me as well, and I limited my stars to 4 because it too a few chapters to adjust to the style of her male voices. It seemed to take a while to have the male voice(s) seem authentic and real. As for Lilah, she was brilliant and became her immediately and once I adjusted to her take narrating male voices I became fully immersed in the story she was telling. She will be added to my list of narrators to try again without a doubt!

Talk about your twists and turns!

Omg! I love Lilah. She is smart, takes no crap, and is ballsy as hell. Lisa Renee Jones has acquired a new fangirl from this reader. She left me breathless and guessing as to what would happen next. My reaction at the end of this book is a resounding noooo! Waiting for the next book on Lilah is gonna kill me!

Grace Grant is amazing but the storyline is not.

The only reason I kept interested is because I think Grace Grant is excellent. The actual story was kind of boring, nothing gave you a hint of what was goin on, and the character introduction was so brief it was not easy to keep the characters straight. This is my first book by this author, so I’m not sure if I started on the wrong one, but it was not something that made me want to read more of hers. Oh and it ended in a cliffhanger. BUT the main character is refreshingly badass and her exchanges are entertaining- I say refreshingly because she is a 28 year old professional, and she is the opposite of a damsel in distress. So, overall, excellent performance but somewhat disappointing plot.
