Narration Is Poor

This book wasn???t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Reading this book would be better than listening to it. The reason I finished listening is I was on an 800 mile drive with no other book on my iPod.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator's attempt at a Texan accent was painful. Add to that all the

Any additional comments?

I started out to give the book 2 stars and realized the story itself was a lot better than that despite the poor reading. Listen to the sample before buying and see what you think.

Unlike other reviewers, I do like this narrator.

I think that Julia Gibson DOES do a good job of narrating and that the voices that she uses for China, Ruby, Sheila, & McQuaid do make sense in the context of the China Bayles mystery series. These are a sort of cosy mysteries with a modern twist and a great setting -the Texas Hill Country- which is the most beautiful & interesting area of the state. The fictional town of Pecan Springs is actually very very similar to the real life San Marcos, Texas. I like the character China Bayles & I think she fits the scene rather well. I also love the historical & other information that the author always includes about plants and herbs. I have read and/or listened to this series almost from the beginning. I've liked most of the books in this series.

I reached back into our Audible Library and am giving Mistletoe Man another listen for the Winter Holiday Season.

Loved this mystery book!

I loved everything about this book! All of the twists and turns, the intertwining of families and friends, the unexpected ending.
Very good reader, can’t say enough about this page turner!

Story okay but wrong reader

I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them more than when listening to this one. The story takes place in Texas and the readers accent was just wrong for this book. All in all the book dragged for me - not sure if it was just the reader or the story, or a combination of both.

Drab reading

This book never clicked with me, mostly because the reading left me cold. It's not just a case of the accent or voice, but the delivery seems flat and the story wasn't compelling enough to rescue it.
