Critic Reviews

"Read this book in one day. The scenes move, and I mean fast. Anything goes in the Florida Keys, and this story captures the essence. Good descriptions, unique characters, and a plot that could be taken from the news headlines. I'm a fan of Florida fiction, and Steven Becker is now on my 'to-read' list." (Ed Robinson, author of Leap of Faith/Quit Your Job and Live on a Boat)

Great group of books

Each book was unique in their own ways. Each of them were a different kind of story around the same character. The things that Mac gets into is unthinkable sometimes. The stories as a whole were great and I enjoyed them. The narrator did a great job of distinguishing between the different characters, and has a great voice for this line of work. Good job to him for his hard work on this book!

Reasonable story, horrible narration

The storyline was just ok. The first book was repetitive with the same incidents happening over and over. I love all stories revolving around the Keys, but this seemed almost...amateur.

The narration was the worst I've heard on Audible. The narrator has a nice voice, but the cadence he uses is the same for every scene. Picture a love scene and then picture a scene where someone is decapitated. I'm making these up, but the narrator would sound just as cheerful on both. His different character voices are cartoonish and almost comical. It might even be worth getting this to hear his bad guy voice. If there was ever a bad guy that ever lived with a voice like the narrator's version of a bad guy, the bad guy would be figured out as a scoundrel upon your meeting them. It's that bad. Remember Gargamel from the Smurfs? It's kind of like that.

Terrible. Don't bother.

Most boring thing I've ever listened to. I have 500 + books in my library. Bad bad bad

Not quite terrible

While the writer seems well versed in the locale, bridge construction, and diving, nautical operations, he knows nothing about police procedures, medical issues and common sense.
I couldn't wait for the anticlimactic end to the last few hours.
