Publisher's Summary

"Susan Boyer delivers big time with a witty mystery that is fun, radiant, and impossible to put down. I LOVE THIS BOOK!" – New York Times Bestselling Author, Darynda Jones).

Liz Talbot thinks she's seen another ghost when she meets Calista McQueen. She's the spitting image of Marilyn Monroe.

Born precisely fifty years after the ill-fated star, Calista's life has eerily mirrored the late starlet's - and she fears the looming anniversary of Marilyn's death will also be hers. Before Liz can open a case file, Calista's life coach is executed.

Suspicious characters swarm around Calista like mosquitoes on a sultry low country evening: her certifiable mother, a fake aunt, her control-freak psychoanalyst, a private yoga instructor, her peculiar housekeeper, and an obsessed ex-husband.

Liz digs in to find a motive for murder, but she's besieged with distractions. Her ex has marriage and babies on his mind. Her too-sexy partner engages in a campaign of repeat seduction. Mamma needs help with Daddy’s devotion to bad habits. And a gang of wild hogs is running loose on Stella Maris. With the heat index approaching triple digits, Liz races to uncover a diabolical murder plot in time to save not only Calista's life, but also her own.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

i have happily recommended this book to several friends It is a fast paced frothing blend of mystery, coincidence, romance, look-a-likes, and gun play. Oh, and a guardian spirit to boot.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lowcountry Bombshell?

A tossup between the first meeting with her new client and the ill-fated ferry back to the island. One is a near perfect start to the book and the other is fate personified.

Have you listened to any of Loretta Rawlings’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to her performance in the first book of the series and loved it. Then she goes all breathy and gives us a really great Marilyn. Great pacing and near perfect characterizations.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Genteel Southern Living Will Rise Again. (or at least we all can hope so....)

    Any additional comments?

Give it and the first book in the series a chance. You will not regret it.

    "Fun and engaging. "

I am glad I found this book. It's the first in a series, which is good since I enjoyed it so much. Perfect balance of comedy and drama, the plots all tied nicely together and I honestly couldn't figure out who the killer was. I will agree with a previous poster that there was a ridiculous amount of bad guys on such a small island that is supposed to be crime free, but I can overlook that. I am getting ready to read book 2 in the series now.

"Storyline is Vapid, Narration is Worse!"

How this book has such a good rating, I will never know. The storyline is ridiculous so get ready to suspend that disbelief! But it's the narration that has completely ruined it for me.

The fake "southern accent" the narrator has created for the main character and others in the book is horrible. Take every negative stereotype and bad joke you've ever heard about the south, and it's all oozes from the mouth of the narrator.

I was born in the south and have lived here my entire life, and no one talks like the narrator of this book. It's so overdone and sing-songy to the point of being nauseating. Perhaps someone from another area of the country who doesn't know any better will be able to tolerate listening to this book.

A bland mystery and an even blander romance.
if I hadn't finished it in one sitting I doubt I'd have picked it back up.

    "Disappointed."

This southern comfort detective novel does not have the zip and tang to keep me interested. The first novel was very entertaining, but this story was not interesting at all. I still enjoyed the supporting characters. If there is a sale on the series, I will try another book. This one just damped my enthusiasm for the series.

This was an enjoyable read. The characters were engaging and interesting. The plot unfolds in a realistic and fast paced. I like the way Liz interacts with the other characters. I also like that the characters seem like they could be people I know. I recommend this book.
