Lord John is in a difficult spot. His cousin Olivia is engaged to marry the Honorable Joseph Trevelyan, but he has just observed something of a rather personal nature that, if confirmed, might put an end to any talk of marital bliss. Now Lord John has not one, but two puzzling mysteries to solve.

It just couldn't engage me

It was a bit of a mystery but I'll bet mystery lovers wouldn't rate this one very high. It doesn't have the appeal of the Outlander Series. I won't finish the series.

She has done it again

Another great by a great author. I'm only subtracting a star because I don't think it would be near as much fun to hear this story without the others in the Highlander or Lord John series. WELL writen. All of her character feel like you are tring them on for size!

You gotta love Lord John...

Any additional comments?

This series gives one more of a look into a character who figures prominently in the Outlander series. Lord John turns out to be a quite lovable person on the whole.

Enjoyed this story immensely.

Good choice for voice narrating this character. This novella had length enough to manage the large cast of characters, which I sometimes struggle with in the Lord John short stories. Compelling plot lines and wonderful detail. nice addition to Outlander universe.

Lord John Grey-private Matter

This book has a ok story plot and characters are interesting, but a story without Jamie is like a day without sunshine.

I usually love this series, but...

What a bore! I listened to half the damn thing before I figured out what the heck it's about. Fell asleep twice!

So much better in audio!

When I first realized that the Lord John books weren't narrated by Davina Porter, I was a little disappointed, but that feeling disappeared as soon as I started listening. The narration is amazing! Now I wish Jeff Woodman did the Lord John portions of the last two books in the Outlander series. He truly make makes Lord John and his stories come alive. I used to be one of the people that liked the Lord John series a little less than Outlander, but I enjoyed listening to this just as much as any book in the Claire and Jamie world. I can't give higher praise than that.
