In development to be a TV movie! From debut author Traci Andrighetti comes a tale of murder, mayhem, and meddling Sicilian grandmas.
Francesca "Franki" Amato is a tough-talking rookie cop in Austin, Texas - until an unfortunate 911 call involving her boyfriend, Vince, and a German female wrestler convinces her once and for all that she just isn't cut out for a life on the police force. So Franki makes the snap decision to move to New Orleans to work at her friend Veronica's detective agency, Private Chicks, Inc. But Franki's hopes for a more stable life are soon dashed when Private Chicks is hired by the prime suspect in a murder case to find out what really happened to a beautiful young boutique manager who was found strangled to death with a cheap yellow scarf. When she's not investigating, Franki is hoping to seduce handsome bank executive Bradley Hartmann, but most of her time is spent dodging date offers from a string of "good Italian boys" - make that not-so-good aging Italian men - that her meddlesome Sicilian grandma has recruited as marriage candidates. As Mardi Gras approaches and the mystery of the murdered shop girl gets more complicated, Franki must decipher the odd ramblings of a Voodoo priestess to solve both the murder and the mystery of her own love life.
PI, ex-cop, NOLA, stripper, stress buster, humor, no gratuitous erotica,
What's not to like? Franki really wanted to be a cop, but her mentor was a sleazebag and her lover seemed to prefer lady wrestlers, so she packed up and left Texas for NOLA and her best friend's PI agency. The smothering Italian family had her phone number, though. The verbal humor is great, but the situational humor is guaranteed to have you snorting your caffeine! The publisher's blurb gives hints, but can't really do justice to things like the eccentric ex-stripper who still dresses for pole dancing, or some of the antics the characters get up to. A fun escape read!
I had the ebook, but forgot about it until I got the audio. Glad I waited, because Madeline Mrozek gave an absolutely stellar performance! She really enhances any book that she narrates.

If you like Stephanie Plum or even Agatha Raisin, you will no doubt like the rather irritating Frankie, who leaves the police force to move to NOLA to be a private eye. Her elderly stripper landlady is a great character, as is the Italian grandma. I will but the next book!

Also read this book in the past. I enjoyed the Audible version as well because it brought out parts of the book that I didn't remember or focus on when I read the book. The story is great as well as the narrator, Madeline Mrozek, who did a great job with the different characters personalities. Looking forward to future audio books from Traci Andrighetti!

Fun first book in a new series. I am sure this will be a big hit. It has all the goodies. Female PI's, a little romance, fast paced never boring story line. Add a dog and a lot of humor and you have a recipe for success. Madeline Mrozek does a great job of narrating this book. Will be waiting for the next adventure.

I have said it before in my reviews, Madeline Mrozek is one of the most enjoyable narrators out there today. I would not have finished this book if not for her narration. "I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Blast."

I really enjoyed this book, the cast and setting was just so colourful and I had no problem imagining the scenes unfold as I was swept up on the roller coaster ride that is Franki's life.
I read the book and then just had to own it as an audiobook too, so I could enjoy it again and again. I have even got my mum hooked on the series now too (as she came in while I was . Listening to it).
You would think being a policewoman was hard work but that is a piece of cake compared to being a Pi, dealing with family, cheating boy friends, voodoo priestess, ex strippers for landlords and sea food, dogs what more could you want in a matter. This book has it all in one humorous tale.
The narrator was very good and I hope she does the reading of the other books in this series , as I can't see me not having to own all the books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, this was a book that I listened to in as as few sittings as possible. It had me hooked!
I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the series!
