Fame, fortune...and a fatal obsession

Sahara Travis is used to being worshipped by adoring fans, but now someone is fixated on her in a dangerous way. After multiple attempts on her life, she reluctantly agrees to hire a security specialist for her protection, though the last thing she wants is some burly bodyguard invading her personal space.

Former army ranger Brendan McQueen's job is to keep the starlet safe and track down her would-be assassin. But when Sahara receives news that her estranged mother has been murdered and her father, the top suspect, is missing, Brendan quickly realizes this is much more serious than your average celebrity stalker.

With Brendan and her devoted assistant, Lucy, in tow, Sahara returns to her family estate in New Orleans to uncover the identity of her attempted killer before he can close in on his final target.

Decent read

Overall the story of Sahara and Brenden was a decent way to spend the time driving home from work each day. I just didn't enjoy it the way I had previous Sharon Sala books.
I will say that a couple of the attempts on her life had me rolling my eyes and pursing my lips. Plus, the climax of the story felt rushed and...less than.
The big reveal was a surprise but I wasn't invested enough in the characters to care more than a quick, "Oh. That's different."
Like I said, I have enjoyed other Sharon Sala books much more than this one. This one was just lacking to me. Maybe it was the setting or the staid existence or Sahara's whining.
SHEESH! The whining! Maybe it was all of the above.
Oh well. Onward and upward.
I"ll find a different Sala book. Hopefully, it'll be more engaging.

Fun listen

thoroughly enjoyed the listen. Great story and it wasn’t too deep in dark. There are sometimes I just want to mystery that is not so blatantly realistic.

Eyeroll at best

So ridiculous. Poor perfect helpless girl story. Famous actress seems to have a hit on her. Parents are murdered so yes go straight to that place. Just keep making dumb girl choices so she can keep getting ridiculously saved OH NO!!! The whole book is bad and slow unrealistic boring!!

Good easy story

Little far fetched but well written. A little corny but I’m good with that in light reading
What you recommend for beach read

Couldn’t finish it, lame

I hate to not finish a book but this just was awful, the characters were weak, character background didn’t seem believe-able. Tried to hang in there but by Chapter 10 I had just had it.

Corny Romantic Drivel Sans Suspense

I don’t know why I purchased this, but it is one of the silliest, most vapid books I’ve ever listened to. Overwrought dialogue, no suspense whatsoever (you can easily figure out one of the villains immediately), cardboard cutout characters, villains as stupid as they come, sex and lust labeled as love… Characters are older, but the story is too silly for even a high school aged audience so I don’t know who would enjoy this. Conversely, the narrator is absolutely perfect for the air-headed characters. She’s great with both male and female voices.
