Publisher's summary

New secrets, old flames, and hidden agendas are about to send bounty hunter Stephanie Plum on her most outrageous adventure yet!

MISTAKE #1
Dickie Orr
Stephanie was married to him for about fifteen minutes before she caught him cheating on her with her archnemesis, Joyce Barnhardt. Another fifteen minutes after that, Stephanie filed for divorce, hoping never to see either one of them again.

MISTAKE #2
Doing favors for super bounty hunter Carlos Manoso (aka Ranger)
Ranger needs Stephanie to meet with Dickie and find out if he's doing something shady. Turns out, he is. Turns out, Dickie's also back to doing Joyce Barnhardt. And it turns out Ranger's favors always come with a price. . . .

MISTAKE #3
Going completely nutso while doing the favor for Ranger, and trying to apply bodily injury to Dickie in front of the entire office
Now Dickie has disappeared, and Stephanie is the natural suspect in his disappearance. Is Dickie dead? Can he be found? And can Stephanie Plum stay one step ahead in this new, dangerous game? Joe Morelli, the hottest cop in Trenton, New Jersey, is also keeping Stephanie on her toes---and he may know more than he's saying about many things in Stephanie's life. It's a cat-and-mouse game for Stephanie Plum wherein the ultimate prize might be her life.

With Janet Evanovich's flair for hilarious situations, breathtaking action, and unforgettable characters, Lean Mean Thirteen shows why no one can beat Evanovich for blockbuster entertainment.

Another lite read

Further adventures of Stephanie Plum, and more of the same from Evanovich. As usual, the bad guys are cardboard cutouts, and unusually, especially inept. An entertaining, and unsurprising, read.

Always a hoot!

I like all of the numbered Janet Evanovich books. They are fun and very entertaining. Stephanie is like a grown up, contemporary Ann of Green Gables, always getting in trouble, but never on purpose. I have an extra set of the series in paperbacks, that I use to introduce reading to non-readers; works every time. I have enjoyed listening to the Stephanie Plum series while I travel. I get to laugh a lot and I really look forward to my daily traveling just so I can hear the stories. Sometimes, I don't even want to get out of the car. What I like best is that there is just not one story line in a book, there are usually quite a few, but they all come together in the end. Janet's characters are a hoot!

Lean Mean thirteen

Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum's best book ever, laughed all day, I will have to listen to it again to hear the parts I was laughing too much that I missed some. I just wish it was longer. I can't wait for #14.

Too high expectations?

Having created my own voices for the characters in this series after 12 books, my expectations may have been too high for any reader to achieve. Though a credible job I was disappointed with Morelli and Ranger. I felt the reader lost the characters at times. Lula and Connie were on target for me and Stephanie was OK, Grandma was better than average. As for the storyline, I think Evanovich has gotten back on track after some disappointing episodes in the series. The interview at the end was a bonus and provided some insight into evolution of the series. How long can Stephanie walk the tightrope between Morelli & Ranger without becoming slutty? Being Italian and surrounded by the men in the family, I can't imagine Morelli standing by much longer before leaving Stephanie. Cute and ditsy gets pretty old after awhile.

Funniest yet...

This was my first audiobook in the Plum series so it took some getting used to but overall was done nicely. The comical situations were all very unique and therefore more hysterical than ever. The Ranger/Morelli saga is getting a little old but it works for the plot. All I can say is Enjoy!

Another Winner

I don't think Janet Evonovich could write a bad book if she tried. Lean Mean Thirteen takes the reader on yet another high energy ride with Stephanie and the love triangle keeps getting more complicated.

Classic Stephanie

Wonderful book continues the long running Plum tradition for crazy hijinks with all of our favourite characters. Only one car gets to visit car heaven in this book. I'm afraid of getting into any detail for fear of giving way any plot points but suffice to say that there are many good laughs; Grandma has an incredible scene where she wants to be a rock n' roller; And of course Stephanie has her usual angst about Joe and Ranger. Who do you think she is going to end up with? Great book with many laughs that is the perfect reward for getting through one of *those* days.
