Publisher's summary

A Wall Street Journal bestseller.

Known is the fifth book in Bone Secrets, the multimillion-copy bestselling series.

After a brutal snowstorm in the Cascade Mountains, Chris Jacobs discovers two things he never expected to see: the charred shell of a cabin, and Gianna Trask and her sixteen-year-old daughter huddled in an SUV, having barely escaped from their burning vacation rental.

Still scarred from a childhood ordeal, Chris knows there’s something sinister about the scene - it’s the stench of burned flesh.

Forced to wait out the blizzard in their rescuer’s retreat, medical examiner Gianna Trask wonders if her hidden past has finally caught up with her. When a body is found in the destroyed cabin’s ashes and a forest ranger is brutally murdered, both Gianna and Chris must confront their secrets if they want to escape the violent threat lurking outside.

In the fifth book in the Bone Secrets series, Kendra Elliot leads listeners on a dangerous, twisting journey of two lives forever changed by a fiery snowstorm in the mountains.

Chris' story continues.

It has any number of surprises, one tasteful love scene, cute kids, darling dog, and the pathological villain, who is big, bad, and maybe one ant short of a picnic. Strong heroine needed as the emotional blows just keep coming. Her daughtet turns out to be her clone as strenght needed there too. Most will be familiar with Chris' story, and I suspect, will truly believe in the redemption found for him and the heroine. A good read for a rainy aftetnoon.

Another Great One!

This series has been amazing. I knew when it was time for Chris to reappear, his tale would be heart-rending and beautiful. Boy, this story has it to the full. This roller coaster runs full speed ahead from page one to its blissful ending. Breathing is optional in between.

This novel easily stands alone if you're new to the series. But it will be best enjoyed if you've read the other books in the series to best understand the characters involved and their histories. This is particularly true of the hero, Chris, who had a very unusual and tragic childhood, suffering trauma that brutalized his life into adulthood as well. Whether you choose to back up to the beginning or start with this book, chances are you'll be going back to read the others anyway. They're that good.

Known

I am so glad Chris gets his own HEA! Chris, we met him a couple books ago in this series, is really Michael's brother David, and was kidnapped as a child and walked out of the woods two years later with a different identity. Now after a snowstorm in the Cascade mountains he finds a burned cabin and a mother and her teenage daughter in their disabled truck. Taking them back to his home to wait out the storm he has suspicions the mother, Gianna, has been poisoned but not down. Gianna is the newest member of the ME staff but more intriguing is in the cabin was a body she did not know about. This author gives us so many twists and turns and keeps us guessing right up to the end and intermixes a romance between Gianna and Chris which was so good to find out Chris could overcome his past.

Murders in the Oregon Cascades!

Kendra Elliot has written another excellent mystery/thriller set in western Oregon! Tanya Eby's narration is superb as always.

This novel is not the type of serial killer book that Elliot usually writes. While the antagonist kills several people it is an effort to reach a specific goal.
