Publisher's summary

A chilling and intense first novel, the story of a solitary young woman drawn into an online world run by a charismatic web guru who entices her into impersonating a glamorous but desperate woman.

When Leila discovers the website Red Pill, she feels she has finally found people who understand her. A sheltered young woman raised by her mother, Leila has often struggled to connect with the girls at school; but on Red Pill, a chat forum for ethical debate, Leila comes into her own, impressing the website's founder, a brilliant and elusive man named Adrian. Leila is thrilled when Adrian asks to meet her, flattered when he invites her to be part of "Project Tess". Tess is a woman Leila might never have met in real life. She is beautiful, urbane, witty, and damaged. As they email, chat, and Skype, Leila becomes enveloped in the world of Tess, learning every single thing she can about this other woman - because soon, Leila will have to become her.

An ingeniously plotted novel of stolen identity, Kiss Me First is brilliantly frightening about the lies we tell - to ourselves, to others, for good, and for ill.

Critic reviews

"Moggach’s debut draws the reader into a... bizarre game of chance and deceit... Moggach has drawn a young woman who is convincingly naïve in the ways of the world and incapable of making good decisions. The story crackles with tension... A sexy psychological thriller." ( Kirkus)
"Moggach’s impressive debut, a gripping psychological thriller, is all the more disturbing for its plausibility. . . . Moggach’s skill in plotting means readers won’t anticipate the twists and turns built into the story, making for an intensely enjoyable reading experience. Memorable and fast-moving." ( Publishers Weekly)

Fantastic story

I loved this book. Such a clever story. And thought provoking. How did she come up with this? I look forward to more creations by Lottie M.
And the narration was perfect.
A fun book!

Different spin on social media

An easy read. main character was so intriguing due to her low self worth. it was subtle, but there. loved that about the authors style. at times I found myself hating Leila. any reader will see a little bit of themselves somewhere between the lines of this story. Ending was well thought out and I felt like it didnt have a neat little bow tying it together. I enjoyed it and enjoy the Netflix series, though it differs.

A very wonderful and different book! And of course Imogen Church, my favorite narrator.

A wonderful read, thoroughly written, but never drags. Kept me at the edge of my seat! Heartfelt as well as exciting!

A better storyline before you go!

This story by Lottie Maggach was incomplete and never should have ended in the manner in which it did. There where so many other Avenues and alleys it could have gone down.
I'm surprise it was published in that state.
The narrator peformed this work with such grace and pose. It's like buying an expensive perfume bottle with nothing inside.
The performance by Imogen Church is 5 star as always.
I am unfortunately unable to give this book 5 stars. Sadly it get's 2 and all over 3.

It was just okay

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I didn't care for the storyline. I think it would have been or could have been more interesting but it just fell short for me. The description of the book lead me to believe it was going to be a certain story, and that is not what I got.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I was disappointed. I didn't really get into the story until about 70% of the way through, when the "climax" seemed to be at full swing, and then it just kind of ended and left me feeling unsatisfied.

Have you listened to any of Imogen Church’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I don't know...I think for the big screen it could make a decent movie.

Boring

if you cut out the first half of the book it would be better. Not good but better.
