Publisher's summary

A Wall Street Journal bestseller.

Former defense attorney Darren Street is desperately trying to put his life back together after spending two years in a maximum-security prison for a murder he didn’t commit. He’s rebuilding his law practice, reconnecting with his son, and falling more deeply in love with his girlfriend, fellow attorney Grace Alexander. But the past casts a long shadow, and for Street, there’s no outrunning it.

Tormented by nightmares and violent mood swings, Street is seeking treatment for PTSD when a new trauma shakes his world: his mother is killed in an explosion, but the police believe Street was the intended target. Payback from an old enemy, or the calling card of a deadly new foe? Whoever’s behind it, Street begins to lose his grip on reality and decides to take matters in his own hands. And the law won’t stop him from revenge. Justice has a new name: Darren Street.

Hmmmmm

It was a great story leaving me with mixed emotions about the main character which is fun. Of course it wouldn’t be a Scott Pratt novel with out murdering animals. That can stop. Makes me sick every time he kills a dog or cat...which is several times in each book he writes.

Outstanding Series

Very good story! Kept me involved from the get -go. The characters are so in-depth and you either love them or hate them. The "justice" system in the story smacks of truth. I'm looking forward to the final book in the series to see where our Mr Street winds up.

I was hoping for a hero

Narration was montone, some interesting characters that could have been fleshed out more. But mostly life is a crap shoot that doesn't excuse poor behavior.

So many twists. Page turner for sure.

Loved this book. Lots of Action. And twists you don’t see coming. It was better since I read the first book. But not imperative to do so.

Scott P did it Again...

Could not put it down. This book is so different from the Dylan series, but still good. Made me root for the bad guy.
Twist and turns throughout the book.

fantastic

Darren Street I think he is a good person. The things that has happened to him, the cruelty of it all. you can't aspect a person to have those things done an not loose a part of your sanity. this author keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. It shows that law enforcement is good, but can be crooked. it's interesting seeing how the police piece everything together. Big Pappy an Darrens relationship changes in this book. You learn way more about the true him an not the story he gave Darren. I just can't get enough.

I was sad to see Darren go down this road but...

The book was great and I suppose anyone could snap if they went through what he did. However, I'm not sure how things could ever work between him and Grace.
