Publisher's summary

The cruel and bizarre slaying of a beautiful teen leads Detective Decker into the dark heart of an exotic subculture: the seamy, sometimes violent world of Southern California's rootless, affluent youth. But even the confession of a disturbed kid with cold "killer eyes" cannot soothe Decker's inner torment. For he knows in his gut this crime goes much deeper and higher than anyone expects - and that true justice, brutal and complete, has yet to be done.

Solve another case with Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus.

I wanted to know what happens next. I felt like I was left hanging at the end.

Justice for whom

It one of Kellerman’s best. Just wondering how such a prim and proper Jewish woman should know so much about sex.

Another thought provoking mystery

What was one of the most memorable moments of Justice?

When the young girl finally realizes her boyfriend is a killer.

Which scene was your favorite?

Early on I was scared for the young girl... the drawing scenes, I just did not know if it would lead to her death.

Any additional comments?

Like many American stories this one ends well... the young girl sees the light and works to better herself. Not Pollyanna but uplifting just the same.

Realistic Justice

Justice impressed me as an accurate picture of how challenging it can be to achieve justice. Justice is achieved on different levels in different story lines. The plot is complicated and interesting. Mitch Greenberg continues to narrate well.

Not fabulous, but entertaining enough

If you could sum up Justice in three words, what would they be?

I enjoy listening to this series because I can follow the books pretty well while driving. They don't need my full attention. They aren't great literature but it is nice to visit the Decker/Lazarus household once in a while. I could stand fewer references to their Jewishness. It distracts from the plot and seems didactic. (For insights into the Jewish culture/religion/ethics, I much preferred the Rabbi Small series by Harry Kemelman.) That said, I will continue to listen to the series and that's the final test, after all.

If you’ve listened to books by Faye Kellerman before, how does this one compare?

This entry falls in the middle--not the best, not the worst.

Have you listened to any of Mitchell Greenberg’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't know. She wasn't intrusive or distracting, so I didn't make note of her name.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not at all. In fact, that is a benefit when one is listening on a commute. You can "put it down" so to speak.

Any additional comments?

I commend the site for the series links. They are extremely helpful.

One of her best.

Would you listen to Justice again? Why?

Yes. It has a very interesting story and is much more fast-paced than her books usually are. It is more about other characters and less about the Deckers' personal lives.

What did you like best about this story?

It is face paced and has interesting characters outside the Decker family.

Any additional comments?

I don't find that Faye Kellerman always delivers. Sometimes there is more about her religion and family that gets tedious in some of the books instead of there being a true plot. However, I liked this one and didn't want it to stop.

disappointed

I have enjoyed the Decker/Lazarus series, and this book was well written. But it was smuttier than the others I'd listened too. The language seemed unnecessarily cruder and the situation darker and more twisted. I am not a fan of this book - but I AM a fan of the series....
The reader was great - as usual...

Written a little differently form the others……

In this book there is an additional character in first person. It caught me off guard at first but, I really enjoyed this book. Have to say Marge took a vacation and did not come back in this book. I even went on the web to see if anyone had any news about the character. Don’t worry she is back in the next book. Love this series and Mitch is a great narrator!

A good tale

Would you listen to Justice again? Why?

Yes I would listen to Justice again. It introduces a couple new characters and still keeps the reader interested in Rina and Decker as characters and as people.

What other book might you compare Justice to and why?

Gun Games, also written by Faye Kellerman, has many parallels to this tale.

Which character – as performed by Mitchell Greenberg – was your favorite?

Rina
