Publisher's summary

Code name: Jet

Twenty-eight-year-old Jet was once the Mossad's most lethal operative before faking her own death and burying that identity forever. But the past doesn't give up on its secrets easily.

When her new life on a tranquil island is shattered by a brutal attack, Jet must return to a clandestine existence of savagery and deception to save herself and those she loves. A gritty, unflinching roller-coaster of high-stakes twists and shocking turns, Jet features a new breed of protagonist that breaks the mold.

Fans of Lisbeth Salander, SALT, and the Bourne trilogy will find themselves carried along at Lamborghini speed to a conclusion as surprising as the story's heroine is unconventional.

Good Quick Light and Entertaining

Would you listen to Jet, Book 1 again? Why?

Maybe, Good fast paced light listening.

Which character – as performed by Braden Wright – was your favorite?

I thought Braden Wright did a great job narrating especially since the protagonist is a woman.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I think I did, but this was also a relatively short book compared to most of the ones I listen to.

Any additional comments?

Very good, fast paced, lots of action and around the globe thrills. The only thing I would have liked is if the author had fleshed out the characters a little more. He does give some background to Jet and her relationship with her boss but that was minimal. For the most I did enjoy this, certainly worth the $ and have already purchased the 2nd in the series.

International thriller with smarts

Any additional comments?

An international spy thriller that's convincingly international. Loved the local color--author clearly knows what he's writing about. There's a lot of killing (something I struggle with in a lot of action thrillers), but it's not mindless. A plot full of twists and turns, with believable characters navigating larger-than-life challenges. At first I thought maybe it should have a female narrator, since the main character is a woman, but I really liked the person who read this, so I'd have to call it just right.

Action packed story

This is book one in the Jet series. The protagonist is a 29 year old female a former Mossad operative. She faked her death and went into hiding. Now people are trying to kill her, and she is asking why and who. While she is evading being killed, she sets off to find out why and who. Blake reveals her story in bits and pieces throughout the book as we are introduced to Jet.

The book is well written and the action starts with the first sentence and never stops. The pace of the story is super fast. Blake has created a ruthless assassin who is a sympatric character. The plot has Jet travelling from country to country. Jet speaks eight languages and is a master of martial arts and firearms. The ending sets the reader up for book two in the series.

I understand that Blake is one of the successful independent authors. He apparently started with e-books using the Amazon services. I have discovered a number of exciting new independent authors in a variety of genre on Amazon and Audible and thoroughly enjoyed reading them. Braden Wright does a good job narrating the story.

Fast paced adventure

If you are looking for a fast paced adventure featuring a female lead then Jet, Book 1 is the book for you.

Jet, a 'dead assassin' is trying to find out who is after her after being out of the game for a few years. In order to do this she must go back to her former team mates for help. With flashbacks to help set up the story, we the listeners, are brought into the work of assassins and all of their adventures.

Braden White does a good job with the narration since the lead character is female. I look forward to listening to more of these books.

You don't want to cross Jet!

Any additional comments?

OMG. Where do I start? Jet's totally kick-#ss, a tough, sexy heroine that takes names and brings the heat. It's filled with international intrigue and action, literally non-stop. The story's exciting, the narration impeccable, and all in all it's one of my favorite books of the year, if not my favorite!

An instant classic

If you could sum up Jet, Book 1 in three words, what would they be?

High Octane Action

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

From the first page to the very last, it raced along like an out-of-control locomotive, with more plot twists than anything I've ever read.

What about Braden Wright’s performance did you like?

His characters and his overall reading performance.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I couldn't wait to find out how it ended, and now that I know, I can't wait for the next in the series.

Any additional comments?

Definetly a five star book.I'll be lookin for more from this author and hopefully this narrator.

Must have more Jet in audio format

Would you listen to Jet, Book 1 again? Why?

No, I don't repeat books but if I did, this would be one I repeat.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Jet, Book 1?

It was so action packed it would be impossible to choose one.

Which character – as performed by Braden Wright – was your favorite?

Jet! I loved the narration by Braden Wright.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! Fortunately for me, I am able to pick up quickly after an interruption.

Any additional comments?

My husband's favorite authors are Brad Thor, Vince Flynn (so sad he is gone) and Daniel Silva. He will be adding a new author to his list, Russell Blake.

Action Packed Snooze

What would have made Jet, Book 1 better?

This book has a lot of action which normally turns me on. Unfortunately, it reads like Blake wrote a thousand action scenes and used his word processor to insert them one after the other without regard to any plot of story. I tried to listen to this three times and finally gave up a little less than half way through. So, to be fair, maybe something happened later, but I was just to bored to listen more to find out.

Would you ever listen to anything by Russell Blake again?

This was my first attempt with one of Blake's books, so it would be hard to get me interested in another.

What does Braden Wright bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Braden Wright was the only light in the dark tunnel that was this book. Too bad he didn't have better material to work with.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The action scenes were reasonably good. He just needed a story line to make some sense of them.
