Publisher's Summary

A double life with a single purpose: revenge.

Jane’s days at a Midwest insurance company are perfectly ordinary. She blends in well, unremarkably pretty in her floral-print dresses and extra efficient at her low-level job. She’s just the kind of woman middle manager Steven Hepsworth likes - meek, insecure, and willing to defer to a man. No one has any idea who Jane really is. Least of all Steven.

But plain Jane is hiding something. And Steven’s bringing out the worst in her.

Nothing can distract Jane from going straight for his heart: allowing herself to be seduced into Steven’s bed, to insinuate herself into his career and his family, and to expose all his dirty secrets. It’s time for Jane to dig out everything that matters to Steven. So she can take it all away.

Just as he did to her.

Vengeance & Retribution!!!!

This book was totally unexpected. I found Jane Doe to be a uniquely entertaining psychological thriller. It's very down to earth with believable characters and storyline.
The story is as the publisher's summary states. Jana returned to the United States when her best and only friend (Meg) commits suicide. She does this after getting into a relationship with Steven. He hones in on Meg's weaknesses and breaks her down. Both Meg and Jane come from abusive families. Jane grew up strong Meg, not quite so strong with inhibitions and self doubt. Jane wants Steven to pay for what he did to Meg, she wants revenge.
This book is very well written. The characters are fleshed out. The story is complete and the ending is satisfying.
Nicole Zanzarella does an outstanding job narrating.
If you have kindle unlimited this book is $1.99 to purchase when you borrow the kindle edition.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Sweet twisted retribution!

Romance novel author Victoria Dahl writes her psychological thrillers using the pseudonym Victoria Helen Stone. The protagonist (Jane) is a sociopath who does not relate well to other humans in general and whose behavior is seemingly without limits; Meg, her only friend, was driven to suicide by the verbal and psychological abuse of her boyfriend Steven. Jane moves from Malaysia to Minneapolis to get revenge against Steven. Steven does not like or trust women but he uses them for his own pleasure while trying to destroy their sense of self worth. Jane gets herself employed where Steven works as she sets out to destroy him. Jane Doe is a wild and fascinating ride mostly because Jane's behavior is totally unpredictable while Steven's behavior is totally predictable. Listeners who appreciate richly deserved vengeance will enjoy JANE DOE because Jane's behavior is so creatively beyond boundaries. Narration is superb as Nicol Zanzarella really gets into the Jane character.

AMAZING

I've read or listened to almost 100 books so far this year, and Victoria Helen Stone's _Jane Doe_ may be the absolute best of the bunch. Better yet, Zanzarella's narration takes an already brilliant novel and makes it transcendent.

The heroine is a ballbusting sociopath pretending to be a beaten down doormat as part of her quest for revenge. Zanzarella switches between Real Jane's chilling narration and Fake Jane's simpering placation on a dime, jumping back and forth like a world class Double Dutch Champ and turning it into something seamless and thrilling.

If you have the choice to listen to this as an audiobook? Take it.

Oh wow.....daaaang.

What can I say? Hilarious, sardonic sociopath seeks revenge. It’s great, funny, original. Don’t miss this one if you’re a jaded, skeptic like me. This is not sweet and sappy, maybe a little, but she’s faking. Seriously.....great writing.

I never knew I needed this in my life

As a hard core paranormal/urban fantasy fan with complete disregard for 'real life' non-fiction, I was astonished by how much I enjoyed this novel. Great job by both the author and narration teams.

Certainly not dull.

I really enjoyed the narrator. The book is well written and I’ll look for other books by this author. Some may consider the subject a little dark due to revenge theme but I liked it.

Perfect; but would have enjoyed a "sharper" ending

a true "guilty pleasure" of a novel; excellent narration and character development. Satiates the way indulging in a huge portion of your favorite sweet satiates (I would have loved if Jane could have spun off into a complete series (perhaps as a hired gun, righting societal wrongs - really this character grew to life under the author's pen). Glorious indulgence! I am off to purchase more offerings from this very skilled writer - she carves enjoyment and develops intrigue using her pen with the precision of a surgeon's scalpel, I do hope her other books have "evil" characters. read for the unique joy of cheering for a sociopath!!

Nice and simple story

Storyline was nice and simple. Your typical revenge fuelled story - but better! Narrator was pretty good but always had this whisper/ breathy type of voice at the end of her sentence and my gosh, it was annoying. Would still recommend it though

Sinister, Funny, Menacing.

I couldn't stop listening to this audio. Jane is a very good friend to have, but as an enemy......Crikey, you just wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of her. The way she stalked her prey was absolutely riveting. You were rooting for her all the way. Revenge is certainly a dish served ice-cold in Jane's world. I found myself smiling, at the way she portrayed the down trodden girlfriend, and what she was really thinking. Very well written Victoria Helen Stone.

Nicole Zanzarella, WAS Jane. The menace, the cynicism, the cat and mouse game were all portrayed brilliantly, with the nuances in her voice. Extremely well read. I shall be looking out for this narrator again.
