Publisher's summary

Lawyer and author David Hosp's novels, including Dark Harbor, are best-sellers. Now lawyer Scott Finn is caught in the middle of a touchy case. A policewoman is left for dead in an alley, and when she recovers she points the finger at an El Salvadorian immigrant with gang ties. But all the evidence is pointing the other way. And as Finn digs deeper, he finds a thin line between guilt and innocence.

Difficult to turn off

I really enjoyed listening to this book. As the story went on it became more difficult to turn off and go to work. It was easy to relate to the characters, setting in Boston was done well and the story developed well!

An author who needs to be heard

I read David's first book, "Dark Harbour" some time ago, and when I stumbled upon "Innocence", I was thrilled! He has real talent - the perfect style of writer for good suspense or crime drama. His characters are funny, sarcastic and very, very real. They don't come across as the super-genius detective or the indestructable medical examiner or whatever.. they are human. His writing reminds me a lot of David Baldacci, and that's a HUGE compliment in my opinion.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good suspense story. I haven't bothered to write many reviews lately because I never want to take the time. David Hosp made me want to take the time. I know I loved a book when after it ends, and the familiar "Audible Guy" comes on and says, "Audible hopes you have enjoyed this program", and I answer out loud, "Yes, I did," it's a damn good book. :)

What a Great Encore!

Thanks for writing such a great series! Between the fast paced plot and the variety of characters and George Guidall’s excellent narration, I couldn’t put it down! PLEASE CONTINUE WRITING the Scott Finn. I too left my heart in Boston.

Good book, a little "telegraphed" though

This is a good story with interesting characters and excellent narration. I would have definitely rated it higher except that the ending plot twist was so obvious and telegraphed, it was almost painful to listen to the main character puzzle over it. And the thing is, i NEVER guess the ending of a book - I don't even try. Not only am i not good at it, i much prefer to just let the story unfold. But this was so obvious, i couldn't help it. Having said all that, i still enjoyed the book as a whole. And i'll definitely look at others by this narrator.

Note: there was also a plot issue that i'm not sure added up. I wish that AUDIBLE had a dissussion forum, or an email echange where we lsiteners could discuss such things...

Well done!

It takes a lot to motivate me to review and this book did just that. The book absorbed me into its story and was easy for me to imagine the characters and my investment in them. Worth the time.

Another entertaining llisten

After listening to Dark Harbor I was intrigued enough to download this newest book by Hosp. I wasn't disappointed. Although situations and outcomes are somewhat predictable, that fact doesn't detract from the overall performance. I enjoyed the relationship and banter between Finn and Koz. And although the May-December romance that Hosp injected into the story was a bit of a stretch, the May character was funny and believable. Somehow it all worked. Narrator Guidall was excellent and portrayed characters in a way that left little doubt as to who was doing the talking. I'll continue to download books by Hosp as they become available.

If You Like Great Lawyering . . . Buy This!

This one was a great, fun listen. Not that the story was funny. But it is such a joy to listen to George Guidall perform a well-crafted legal mystery. The characters are such that I would want to read/listen to more books featuring them . . . a male lawyer, a female law student-turned-legal-para, and an old-school, lovable male private eye. This trio enjoys a unique work/life relationship and their adventures are full of peril, twists and turns and maybe, even a little romancing between two of them.
The court proceedings are interesting and I enjoyed learning more about DNA evidence, how evidence can be faked or set up and how experts can untangle the morass.
I can't help but recommend this one. It is good in every way.

Entertaining

This was my first Hosp book. I liked the detective,Finn and the private eye, "Koz" although the young associate that works for Finn was a little bit unbelievable ... a little too rough around the edges. The story was interesting with some twists and turns, some great love "scenes" and some tense violent sections, but like another reviewer, I guessed the ending too. It didn't really matter though. I still found it hard to stop listening. I even brought my MP3 Player out of my car and into the office one afternoon so I could continue listening. Georg Guidall, the narrator, is one of my favorites and is one of the reasons I decided to listen to this book. He's great. Listen to the Tony Hillerman books for more of his work.
