Publisher's summary

What started as a flu outbreak on a military base proves deadlier than Ebola and more contagious than the Spanish Flu. Sympatico Syndrome is unlike anything the world has ever seen. Victims' behavior is changing to accommodate the rapid spread of the virus.

Former Navy epidemiologist Cole Evans is well aware of the rare, infectious diseases the military studies. He also knows, first-hand, the government's stance on sharing information with the public, so if the media has already learned about the disease, then it's far too late to contain the outbreak.

Cole's only chance to save his family is to establish a safe haven. Isolated, hard to reach, and with enough space for his brother's family as well, he has the perfect location - if only they can all reach it before they're infected.

No character development

It's a great concept but I honestly found it hard to get through. I didn't care about the characters at all. The story didn't draw me in to want to know what happens next cause I could careless if they all died.

Book 2?

Loved the book! Narration was good also! My only recommendation would be to the editing department. Leave a pause between scenes / groups. Like chapter headings or even just a few seconds pause. It usually took a sentence or two for me to realize we were with a different group of people.

Pepper survival

The story was good but sometimes a little boring with lists of supplies they collected.

Good Dystopian Novel to feed your addiction

Would you consider the audio edition of Infection: A Pandemic Survival Novel to be better than the print version?

Excellent blend of various characters all trying to survive a viral epidemic and come out alive. Each character has specific challenges as well as group challenges to face making the story line gripping throughout. I will be waiting for book 2 eagerly.

Which character – as performed by Scott Berrier – was your favorite?

Scott does a fine job of conveying the emotions of each scene, kept the story flowing.

Infection

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

'Infection' is intense, with a story line that reflects life that we fear will come to pass. I'm torn between listening it all at once, or stopping during the intense scenes just to catch my breath. I always feel a sense of loss after finishing books of this genre.

Meh...story was okay, narration was tough to enjoy.

The last three books I listened to were narrated by Will Patton. He was great. Compared to Will Patton, it was hard to get into Scott Berrier. The story was interesting enough to stick with it and finish the story.

Sympatico Syndrome Book 1

I enjoyed this series. Ever since finding The Last Tribe by Brad Manuel non violent Post-Apocalyptic stories are my new favorite genre, unfortunately they are few and far between. The negative reviews mainly seem to be about the lack of violence. Give this or The Last Tribe a chance. The narrator took some getting used to. Speeding up the narration helped.

it was a typical survival story.

it's probably just me but ive heard so many of these before and this format is seems so tired. if you really liked the first Day by Day book and haven't read the same story over and over you may like this.
