When a murder disrupts the Irish vacation she is taking with her husband, Roarke, Eve realizes that no place is safe - not an Irish wood or the streets of the manic city she calls home. But nothing prepares her for what she discovers upon her return to the cop shop in New York City....
A driver for a top-of-the-line limousine service is found dead - shot through the neck with a crossbow. The car was booked by an executive at a venerable security company whose identity had been stolen. Days later, a stunning, high-priced escort is found killed at Coney Island, a bayonet stuck in her heart. And again, the trail leads to a CEO whose information has been hijacked.
With a method established, but no motive to be found, Eve begins to fear that she has come across that most dangerous of criminals, a thrill killer, but one with a taste for the finer things in life - and death. Eve does not know where or when the next kill will be, or that her investigation will take her to the rarefied circle that Roarke travels in - and into the perverted heart of madness....
I have enjoyed the Death Series. Was a pleasant surprise that this book opened up in Ireland with Dallas and Roarke on vacation. Susan Ericksen is great. She is Dallis! I had a feeling this story was familiar and wished more of the other characters of the other books were present in the story. Looking forward to the next book.

While i enjoy all of the In Death books and hope to have them all as audio books i would not have purchased this one if i had read it first. Not that by itself it is not a good book, it is just to much like an earlier book in the series. Been there, read it & listened to it already.

Since I've been reading J.D. Robb's death series I have never been disappointed. Her characters are like friends. And it is wonderful to be invested in the books. Clearly the author has fun with the plots. Always unique and refreshing. Thank you for all the wonderful reads.
Eve needs to grow up and stop acting like a child it irritating but everything else was great.
Great story, very amusing and Susan Ericksen did and excellent job. I love all the main characters and the side kicks they are such smart asses lmao!!!
What made the experience of listening to Indulgence in Death the most enjoyable?
I don't own all of this series, but I do own any that feature Roake &/or anything Irish. Ms Ericksen has the voice and enriches the author's Irish intent. The first 2 chapters will steal your heart and make you want to book tickets for Ireland.
What other book might you compare Indulgence in Death to and why?
Vengeance in death, will introduce you to Brian Kelly, a sweetheart, he is. e.g. "Lieutenant darling"
Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
JD Robb, AKA Nora Roberts, is one of the few authors who has successfully written a wonderful sci fi/ romance/mystery series. Some books are better than others as there are over 40 now. But book #1, 2, Rapture, Vengeance and this one are my top faves.
As author introduces a new character in the first 10 books, they are hard to skip as author is so clever how she does it. From fat cat "so how are we going to be friends again?", Roake as he feeds the cat bacon, to Sean in this book getting cake. Author is that good.
Any additional comments?
Note: some of the stories are darker than others, but all have humor and foul language, so if you don't care for that writing style, beware. I have re listened to book #1 as least 3 times and I own over 150 yet to be listened to. So you know that book stays with you as pure entertainment of this series.
I almost literally stumbled onto this series by accident. I looked at a two 4 one sale on Audible. I bought two just to see knowing Nora Roberts is top tier and the genre was a favorite. I got busy and couldn't listen for a few days. Well, Eve had me at once....then I was frantically trying to buy the other 38 before the sale ended ... I am talking last 3 minutes of.... I am listening my way thru the series... which for once is better than reading them... why? Because Susan Erickson is GENIUS!! OMG, she IS Eve Dallas and Rourke and Peabuddy and McNabb.... I almost never read anything twice but I already want to go back and listen again. I know I will. Just try the first book. I couldn't recommend it more.
it was a good read and help my work days pass quickly. enjoyed the story.
Susan Erickson IS the best! I can't imagine the In Death series without her distinctive and consistant portrayal of all the characters. Excellent!
have all books, need more. the narrator is great with the voices work on military time
a Veteran who loves all.
