Publisher's summary

The author of the New York Times best seller I Let You Go propels listeners into a dark and claustrophobic thriller in which a normal, everyday woman becomes trapped in the confines of her normal, everyday world.

Every morning and evening, Zoe Walker takes the same route to the train station, waits at a certain place on the platform, finds her favorite spot in the car, never suspecting that someone is watching her.

It all starts with a classified ad. During her commute home one night, while glancing through her local paper, Zoe sees her own face staring back at her - a grainy photo along with a phone number and a listing for a website called FindTheOne.com.

Other women begin appearing in the same ad, a different one every day, and Zoe realizes they've become the victims of increasingly violent crimes - including murder. With the help of a determined cop, she uncovers the ad's twisted purpose, a discovery that turns her paranoia into full-blown panic. Zoe is sure that someone close to her has set her up as the next target.

And now that man on the train - the one smiling at Zoe from across the car - could be more than just a friendly stranger. He could be someone who has deliberately chosen her and is ready to make his next move.

Commuters Beware!

This book has all the virtues of other recent thrillers like "Gone Girl" and "The Girl on the Train", but it also features a likable and relatable cast of characters. It is, in other words, a real winner!

Our two major characters are Zoe, a single mother with boyfriend and so-so job, and Kelly, a young cop with a checkered record and a tendency to push the envelop of police rules. Both are people the listener/reader might come across in real life - and we'd like and sympathize with them.

Their lives are soon linked by a bizarre case which threatens the safety of women who commute every day on the same transport lines. Kelly gets an assignment on the police case, and Zoe is a justifiably fearful potential victim. Both women are smart, resourceful, and fully engaged in solving the mystery.

The action moves fast, with the twists and turns which are likely to keep you up late and/or thinking of excuses to drive just a little further or sit in the car in the garage. Sure, there are a couple of places where you ask yourself if there's a bit of implausibility in certain details and coincidences, but the story moves quickly enough that disbelief is easily suspended.

I really liked this tense story line, and the narrator is just about perfect. It's a satisfying thriller/mystery.

Scary reality!

After a sluggish start, the story draws you in for a very exciting and scary "ride", pun intended. You think you've heard of dating services? Not like this one! You will not predict the ending , I promise! Narration is brilliant as the Brits say, apropos for the setting of this addictive thriller! Enjoy!

Only thing

The only thing I did not like about this book was when the former were reading the line, it was hard to tell when the Staten ended in one another. The only feedback I have is for future book to happen each performer take their time with their reading through the lines. Other than that one that was perfect making me pictures of different characters, the story was great, everything looks really great.

It could have been better

The narrator's voice seemed that of a much older woman than the ones in the story. The end was ridiculous and unbelievable.

Could not stop listening

You're eased into the story. With all the curves I did not see the twist at the end. You will enjoy this one.

Enjoyed the story very much ~

I was jumpy the entire week I listened to this story. Even while gardening I mistook a ristra of Chile hanging in our meat-cutting room for a stranger stalking me, ha ha! - Looking forward to more books from this author.

I see you

Awesome book. Unique plot and very creepy. A few things were a little predictable, but it didn't ruin the story. There were enough twists to keep it interesting. The narrator was great.

Pretty good, not overly predictable. Love the possibility of continued series

It is had to get through the beginning, they laid a frame work that was very large and not all necessarily intertwining. That would have been helpful to have things slightly more tied together with how many things are going on. But about half way in they have you and you can’t put the book down. It’s a creative idea, I see the need for the lengthy beginning if this is establishing a series. But the ending was great. Not disappointed at all
