Publisher's summary

It’s the most important mission of his life - because it’s the most personal.

Once a key player in a clandestine CIA squad, Sam Callahan thought he had finally found a safe, normal life as a rookie lawyer in DC with the woman he loves. But when called to a covert intelligence mission in the heart of Russia, he can’t refuse risking it all once more. This time, he’d be joining his estranged father, the Lion, a deep-cover agent Sam never even knew existed.

When the operation goes wrong and his team is ambushed, Sam fears a setup. At least he escaped with his life. And so did his father. But why? With a target on his back, he must hunt down the truth behind the betrayal in Moscow - and find the Lion again.

Now, crisscrossing Europe under the cover of shadow, Sam is about to come face-to-face with his past - and it’s never looked so dangerous.

Quite a Book!

As this series progressed it became more and more evident that Sam’s ability to get through dangerous situation’s certainly was a blessing to him. He finds out some very unexpected things in this book. It’s a perfect sequel to what had come before. Don’t miss this book, it is excellent! I hope we hear more of Sam’s adventures in his new job!

Perfect for the 4th book in the series

Always fun and fast books to listen to or read. Noah Berman is really a good narrator and we enjoy his intonation and pronunciation. My only comment that is slightly critical is that it is a shame so much of the past books have to be recounted. Sometimes I just wish authors would devote the first chapter to bringing all the readers up to speed and then just go forward with the new material. Having said that, a little repetition would not by any means stop me from continuing to purchase Chad Zunker’s books.

Narration was sub par

Hoah Berman’s narration doesn’t fit! He sounds like an teenager reading a book with a weak unmanly voice in a male role and overly dramatic. Doesn’t fit a spy thriller. The story had too many characters and didn’t flow as well as the previous 2 books by Zunker.

Excellent continuation of the story

This was an excellent continuation of Sam's story, and, again well narrated by Noah. If you like the first two books you'll love this one.

Trouble Stalks This Guy

I like the Sam Callahan character a lot. But, sheesh! This man is a magnet for trouble. Not the little stuff, like parking tickets or gas station sushi. I'm talking big, bad trouble. The kind that gets you and those around you killed. He should probably come with a government warning label.

Regardless, he's a great read. He has a unique skill set from his time spent on the streets as a kid. His brain rewired itself in fascinating ways, allowing him to see circumstances, events, and places in ways most cannot. Then there's his um... problem with "withholding information" from his fiancé, a woman he promised he'd never lie to again. Oops. Since both Sam and his fiancé are brilliant, he realizes he may just lose her thanks to this latest mission. He can't pull the wool over her eyes., and she's running seriously low on patience with him.

All of the characters in this novel are superb, each adding their own interesting elements to a plot that speeds like a bullet train out of the station. If spy-vs-spy, government cover-ups, alphabet agencies, and action/suspense reads are your deal, Sam Callahan is a guy you need to get to know. All of the books in his series have been high-energy brain-melting stories that offer hours of entertainment and intrigue. This unassuming character consistently offers stories of superior quality with a slick savvy style that hooks the reader early, then keeps them wanting more.

Good Ending to a series

Sam Callahan finally found his place in the world. After having nothing, coming from poverty and abuse, and simply surviving, Sam made it to a place where he could finally make a difference.

Sad it's over!

I loved this series! Sam Callahan is one heck of a guy! The stuff that poor guy had been put through would make the rest of us cry and probably die! Yet he perseveres and kicks butt! I am so sad the series is over! Narration was fantastic!
