Publisher's Summary

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has a problem: 7-year-old Annie Soder and her mother, Evelyn, have disappeared. Evelyn's estranged husband, Steven, is not happy. He and Evelyn signed a child custody bond, and Steven wants the bond money to search for Annie. The money was secured by a mortgage on Evelyn's grandmother's house, and the True Blue Bonds Agency wants to take possession of it.

Finding a kidnapped child is not Stephanie's thing. But Evelyn's grandmother lives next door to Stephanie's parents, and they're not about to see their neighbor lose her house because of the abduction.

Stephanie follows Annie and Evelyn's trail and finds a lot more than she bargained for. Steven is somehow linked with the very scary Eddie Abruzzi. Trenton cop and on-again, off-again fiancé Joe Morelli, and Stephanie's mentor, Ranger, enter the scene, and because Stephanie needs Ranger's expertise, she accepts his help...even though it might mean paying some past debts.

Stephanie, Ranger, Lula, and Evelyn's lawyer/laundromat manager set out to find Annie. The search becomes a race among Stephanie's posse, the True Blue Bonds' agent, and the Abruzzi crew. And did we mention there's a killer rabbit on the loose?

This program is produced for mature audiences.

Getting Old!!

What disappointed you about Hard Eight?

I started out this series and fell in love with the story and the characters. However, you can only milk something for so long and this story line is DONE! For crying out loud, how many vehicles have to die? And I'm sorry because I love Lorelei King as a narrator but she is NOT Stephanie Plum! Bring back CJ Critt, please!
Or, change something,,,,anything,,,PLEASE!

What could Janet Evanovich have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

CJ Critt as the narrator.
This series just went from cute and sexy and hilarious to downright boring and stupid! When the series began I was rooting for Joe and Stephanie to stay together and now, I want Joe to move out of state! The poor man!

What didn’t you like about Lorelei King’s performance?

Her voices for some of the characters are in lue of a very bad high school drama club performance. Just too much and then Stephanie's voice, (Jersey Girl), isn't even close.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger at the same old story and same old stupid screw ups. You just can't keep doing the same old thing, no one is this dumb.

Love Stephanie Plum series

I love all of the books but the narrator is not the best! They need to try someone different. Love the story though!
