Publisher's Summary

In a time when technology can reveal the darkest of secrets, there's only one place to hide a crime of passion - in the heart.

The first victim was found lying on a sidewalk in the rain. The second was murdered in her own apartment building. Police lieutenant Eve Dallas had no problem finding connections between the two crimes. Both victims were beautiful and highly successful women. Their glamorous lives and loves were the talk of the city. And their intimate relations with men of great power and wealth provided Eve with a long list of suspects - including her own lover, Roarke.

As a woman, Eve was compelled to trust the man who shared her bed. But as a cop, it was her job to follow every lead...to investigate every scandalous rumor...to explore every secret passion, no matter how dark. Or how dangerous.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

    "That narrator was...."

Sooooo dramatic. Her accents were off and she sounded very robotic. It was also hard to tell the characters apart because they all sounded the same. I don't know how long she's been at this but I am hoping she gets a lot better with more practice. If I hadn't enjoyed the storyline so much I would have stopped listening. I will not listen to another novel narrated by her. Time to ask the library to stock the entire series instead of just a few.

No matter how many of them in the series I've read, I cannot grow to like the main character.

    "Excellent Futuristic Mystery"

In this book, someone's slashing the throats of prominent and successful women. Since the suspects include family friends of Lieutenant Eve Dallas' commander and Eve's lover, Roarke, this becomes a very difficult case for her.
If you haven't read the first book, Naked in Death, I would suggest that you do that first, although this early in the series it's not as important. Just as a warning for those who have never read one of the In Death books, the mystery is not really the most important part in the book. I've heard regular mystery listeners complain that they were able to figure out who committed the murders long before anyone in the books did. That wasn't the case for me - I enjoyed the mystery element in this book - but the relationships are the reason why I keep reading the series and why I reread all the books. In this book, Eve has to deal with her problems with commitment in her relationship with Roarke. The way Eve and Roarke interact is wonderful, and Eve's gradual attempts at making herself more than just a cop are interesting reading. I definitely recommend this book and series to anyone who likes well done and well paced romance with mystery and murder mixed in.

Susan Ericksen was excellent with the delivery of the story

    "Good suspense novel"

I purchased six books in this series during a 2 books for one credit sale. My intent is to use the books as "fill in listening" when I have nothing better to listen to. With 5 new releases for tomorrow, I can now move on to something more interesting. By the way, Susan Ericksen is an outstanding narrator.

For those not familiar with Nora Roberts "In Death" series (released in the pseudonym J. D. Robb) it is set in New York City about 50 years in the future. It's not really sci-fi although it does include some reasonable computer technologies more advanced than current. This is book 2 in the series and was released in 1995. The series now consists of 43 novels and 11 novellas. The protagonist is police lieutenant Eve Dallas and her sex interest (she's not into love) and co-protagonist is named simply Roarke who is a common romance novel hero, handsome and wealthy. The novels in the series include lots of explicit/raunchy sex scenes and profane language, so if you object to such this series is not for you.

I reviewed Novel #1, Naked in Death, in the series earlier this month and rated to 4 stars. Glory in Death is not nearly as good. All novels and novellas in this series are murder mysteries. Real fans like this one because Roarke is a murder suspect.

"Going back to the beginning is so much fun!"

I had forgotten the oh so romantic proposal by Roarke to Eve. Classic! And to reminded of how Eve and Nadine became such close friends. I knew the characters had grown and matured. Going back to the beginning is so much fun.

Slightly let down for me by the narrator's Irish accent for Roarke - just didn't sound right.

    "Just love this book"
If you could sum up Glory in Death: In Death, Book 2 in three words, what would they be?

    Funny, exciting, romantic

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favourite characters are Roarke and Eve. Shame I can't afford to just buy every book one after the other or I would. Cannot recommend highly enough

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I love Susan Ericksen as a narrator. She does distinctive accents and you can tell easily who she is depicting. She is a very clever audio reader.

    Any additional comments?

I'm not usually a fan of romance. I read and listen to crime but the romance in this book is so different. I just love it.

    "A guilty pleasure."

I am a man and this book is written by a woman, with mostly women protagonists, and, from many points of view, for women. There is a strong Rom-Com vibe in there. Still, the intriguing style of writing, the outstandingly good reading... I like it. Good is good.
